I am new to this. This is my first fresh ivf cycle. I had 21 eggs collected, 15 mature, 8 fertilised but only 1 reached blastocyst - a grade C. I had the transfer a week ago (13th July).
Last night I went to the toilet and when I wiped I got a blob of red. It didn’t smear like blood. It was grey at the bottom and the rest was a deep red, not brown. I called the clinic who said it’s rare for the embryo to come away whole and with no other bleeding they aren’t sure what it is. I was advised to carry on and test on Monday as planned.
Has anyone had this before? What was the outcome?

I'm so sorry for your worry, it's so hard isn't it. I'm also sorry as I've not had this happen so can't really offer advice. Everyone has different feelings about early testing, and you might totally feel it's not for you - if it's something you might consider, as you'll be 8 days post transfer tomorrow it might be worth testing with a First Response test, as they seem to give results much earlier than other tests. Wishing you all the luck.
Hello! I've not had this exact experience before but I've had spotting and discharge before - both before positive and negative pregnancy tests. It could be any host of things so don't worry yourself too much trying to figure out what caused it. I read something in an article once that likened the embryo being transferred to your womb lining as a grain of sand being transferred into a blob of jam. It's thus incredibly unlikely that your embryo has come lose and escaped! I get it though, it's a stressful time and you can't help but imagine the worst! Xx
Thank you for your reply. I just wish the clinic would be more helpful, I just got the standard advice of ‘keep going until your test date’. They don’t seem to understand that it is quite a traumatic experience
Spotting can be a good sign! But approach with caution and have no expectations is my advice. Easier said than done I know!! When is your planned test date? If you have a negative test tomorrow don't write it off immediately, I'd test again two days later and again on your test date. Rant away! I really do get it. Xx
