When to try again...

Hey all

Long story short is that my partner and I just had our first round of ICSI recipricol IVF. We used my eggs and put the a fresh embryo into my partner. Unfortunately we had a chemical and were heartbroken.

We do have one more embryo frozen to try again but I'm just looking for some advice really on how long people usually wait? I want to do it as soon as possible really but my partner would like to wait before we book our follow up appointment. Which I understand as she was on the HRT and Progesterone 3 times daily its alot of medication to start taking again straight away. I'm just worried that if we wait we might miss the window while her body is already prepared.

Something else I wanted to check is th monitoring everyone had before transfer? When I was having my stimulation treatment I had regular scans to check my follicles but as soon as I was ready for egg collection my partner only had one scan to check her lining was prepared and no other checks such as blood tests etc. Is that normal? Or this time should we request something else to be checked before we have our last embryo implanted?

No clinic will do another treatment before her 2nd period comes after the failed transfer.

My clinic did a frozen transfer immediately after the fresh transfer failed and I got pregnant from it and gave birth to my daughter I was 39 years this was 2018 this happened in Belgium

Hi HMV. Usually you have to wait until a menstrual cycle returns to what is normal for you, then the 2nd or 3rd cycle after that. Don't worry about scans, as often just the one is needed. Good luck to you both. Diane

Thanks so much. I think its easy to question everything once its failed and fe like we should have pushed for more checks etc so I'm relieved to hear just the one scan is correct. X
