Hi guys, I'm currently going through my first ivf cycle, I'm on Bemfola and yesterday introduced cetrotide as instructed, I had my first scan to monitor follicles, as a low AMHer (2.5) I have 3 follicles at the minute 1 measuring 15mm!!
The cetrotide injection I struggled with yesterday and today and got into a right flap π€¦πΌββοΈ The needle is weird and not like in the video, I just can't seem to grasp this one and ended up loosing a little of the liquid as the plunger slightly came out! So I was obviously freaking out.
My belly feels like a pin cushion, I'm bruised, red, swollen and sore but no pain no gainπ€·πΌββοΈ
I've had a few headaches so far, little niggly pains in lower abdomen, a little sleepy and abit of a sickly feeling at times but nothing other than that.
So I have my next scan on Monday, and the consultant said I may be ready for EC on Wednesday!!π³ (only started Bemfola 5 days ago) I have been pre warned my chances are slim, but I'm 34 so hoping quality over quantity will succeed π
Is anyone else feeling scared, excited but anxious?
Please show me some positivity guys I need it π

Hi Flossybubble, well done on your fociles! I know exactly what you're going through with cetrotide! I have done 2 rounds of egg retrieval and I got myself into such a panic using cetrotide for the first time. I found the needles very hard to change and I messed up on two syringes with liquid squirting out of both them and they couldn't be used π³π³ Stressed was not the word!! I did find it stings too but just make sure you hold tummy tight and alternate the injection site each morning. Hope that helps and you're doing great π
Oh bless you thank you so much for your reply!! I feel relieved I'm not the only one, UES the needles are so odd a couldn't get them to feel like they fit properly and the liquid splashed out on to my toe I was all fingers and thumbs, DO STRESSFUL. The bemfola pen is so easy in comparison.
Hi Flossybubble, I was taking Fyremadel instead of Cetrotide but I think they do similar things in blocking ovulation. The nurses at my clinic warned that this drug would sting when injected and recommended using an ice cube to numb the area for a few mins.
I did this and didnβt feel a stinging sensation at all. I hope that helps xx
Delighted I could help! My problem was changing the needles and I was constantly loosing liquid too π The draining of the bottle into the syringe is tricky but just take your time and it will be perfect. I think the clinics really leave you to figure it out for yourself which is stressful in itself. I completed 2 rounds of egg freezing and just finished my last egg retrieval on Monday with 16 eggs between the two rounds. I wish it was embryos but unfortunately I'm single so have to make the most of it! I found the 2nd round tougher for some reason but I'm so happy I did it. Hope your journey is going well? Sending positive vibes!!If you have any questions or if I can help just shout x x
The needles are the biggest problem for sure!! I'm going to open them all out before hand. I try and follow the video then it gets ahead of me so I try and pause in between lol. I may get more use to it near the end!
That's so fab you've got lots of eggs to freeze! The consultant said he hopes I should have 3 eggs, but has warned I may get none xx
You definitely will get more use it. I was told the same re. my eggs but the really dont know untill you go in for retrieval. The very best of luck, I have my finger's and toes crossed for you ππ X x
Thank you so much for your reply.I've been freaking out today as I've had like a clear ovulation discharge so am now thinking the cetrotide hasn't worked
Don't panic, that white discharge is exactly what you want to see. I FREAKED out too and rang my clinic thinking I was ovulating. Turns out that white discharge is actually what you want to see and shows your body is reacting to the injections and your hormone levels are increasing as they should π₯³ Best of luck tomorrow, please keep me posted, you have absolutely nothing to worry shout π x x
Hi, thank you for the reply. I did it!! Got through ER manages to get 3 eggs.I struggled with the feeling poorly afterwards but yay!!
Now it's awaiting the dreaded phone call to find out if they've fertilised π my hearts like a pin pong ball all over the place.
So, I struggled last night with my first Utrogestan progesterone pessary π€¦πΌββοΈI'm not the best at these things have never used a tampon. I have to do 3 times daily!!
Today I have browny discharge but I'm guessing thats normal after yesterday.
That is brilliant news Flossy!! I'm so happy egg retrieval went well for you! I was so stressed the morning off as I thought I did my trigger shot wrong πHopefully the clinic rang you with good news π I've never had to the utrogestan progesterone pessary but I'm guessing that might be the next time for transfer? It's definitely a process but it will be all be worth it π X x
Thanks Magsie π it's my transfer today I'm so anxious!! The clinic rang said that 2 had been fertilised and the other had but wasn't looking as it should.I'm even dreaming about eggs lol xx
OMG!!! This is AMAZING news!! I'm genuinely so excited for you! It just shows you that you have really good quality eggs π₯ The very best of luck with your transfer today!! Im sending positive vibes and success your way π€π€π€ I'm getting my covid jab this morning π· I'm prone to allergic reactions so fingers crossed I won't end up in A&Eπ Pls keep posted, I'm so excited for you X x
Aww thank you for such kind words π₯° I will keep you posted. I hope your jab goes OK, just drink plenty of water and rest your arm afterwards. You will be fine xx
