Having my worst nightmare of a morning trying to do my first injection 😞 I’ve passed out & spilt half the liquid and now I’m sat waiting for another one to get to room temperature so I can try again. I feel sick! How on earth do people do this one!? X

Hey, slow down, breath, you’ve got this. ☺️

Wow it’s a hard task but you will absolutely manage it because the end goal is so very important.

If you have to wait for room temperature, take yourself to another room for as long as you have to wait and do something entirely different and normal- read, get a shower, have your breakfast, whatever.

When it’s time go back in with a fresh start- what’s done is done. Take it slowly, take a deep breath and go for it.

You have got this 👍🏻☺️

Thank you. I’ve done it and the actual injection itself wasn’t too bad but it was the preparing it that got me all worked up. I ended up loosing some of the liquid, couldn’t quite get the whole amount out of the vile and I just panicked because I’m staying with my sister at the moment and I have one spare with me and I messed one up completely. I did it but I didn’t get the full amount but I did most of it..do you think it will be okay? I know it’s not really good enough and I need the full dose but honestly was the best I could manage. I didn’t want to risk loosing anymore liquid xx

Warm it up with your hands, it'll warm up quicker xxxxx

Thanks for your message! I did it. I didn’t quite get the full dose in though 😢 which I’m absolutely gutted about. I did the best I could. I’m worried now x

Oh no :(, what happened with the rest? How much did you inject?

Also I did my Gonal f injection. One pen is meant to be 4 injections but I stupidly used it again today but I’m confused as to how there was still liquid left. 1 pen is 900 IU. I’ve used it 4 times for a dose of 200 and today I set it to 200 again (not sure what I was thinking) but it ran out and left at 37.5 so I had to get a new pen out. How does that work though because I should of only had enough for 100 right?? I’m so panicked x

in reply to kirstyblue

They must have a little extra in them, or that particular one had a bit extra, and if you've done it right so far Ihonestly wouldn't worry too much a tiny bit extra of a dose xxxxxxxxx

Breatheeee and don't panic! My first injection my husband messed up, he didn't take the cover off the needle and did it and I said to him 'it isn't in' and he was adimant it was and squeezed as hard as he could and squirted the whole of the solution everywhere haha it's funny now but wasn't at the time me panicking I wouldn't have enough injections for treatment as he's wasted one, him embarrassed he didn't do something as simple as take the lid off haha, I was even worrying when a tiny bit would come out after the injection. It was all fine it worked and we had enough and you'll be fine tooxxxxxx

Well done for getting through it. That was very brave. I’ve NEVER done a single injection myself, DH does them all. You’ll get more confident every day I’m sure xx

If it was at home my partner would be helping me get them ready but I’m away for the weekend so have to just get on with it. I don’t think the clinic are open on weekends are they? Thinking I won’t be able to speak to a nurse until tomorrow x

Some clinics aren’t open at all during a weekend no, some like mine, are open only in the mornings but have limited services running. I’m sure it will be fine speaking to someone tomorrow xx

I will call them tomorrow. Definitely messed up today. Just praying it doesn’t make a difference. I have one more night away and one more cetrotide so I can’t afford to mess tomorrow’s up xx

I’m sure it will all be fine and you’ll do a much better job as you know what not to do now and you know you can do it 💪🏻 xx

I totally messed up my first cetrotide injection I somehow managed pour the liquid all over the table. But after a few days I even managed to do one in a restaurants toilet, using a baby's high chair they had stored in there as a table. I don't know if that was life trying to be ironic or not.

So don't worry they do get easier! Good luck.

Thank you it’s good to know I’m not the only one 😂 I just feel rubbish because I even managed to mess my Gonal up today too I think. My pens are 900IU and I am on 200 a day. I used my pen today for day 5. Set this to 200 but it ran out with 37.5 left so I had to get a new pen out...very confused though because on day 5 surely it should of only had 100 left?? X

in reply to kirstyblue

The gonal f pens all have more liquid in them then stated on the label. We had the same scare during our first cycle but apparently they put extra in for spillage, getting rid of bubbles etc. Go with what the dose window tells you after you have completed the injection. X

Thank you! So maybe I did it okay then if I set it to 200 and when I was left with 37.5 started a new pen at that amount then was left with 0? X

in reply to kirstyblue

Yes that's right. You put whatever the amount that is showing leftover into the new pen and then as long as it shows zero at the end you have given full dose! Me and hubby had the same panic and did lots of research to find that there is extra in every pen xx

That’s so reassuring to know. Definitely didn’t get the full dose of centrotide but at least I know I’ve done the Gonal okay. My scan is on Tuesday so I will find out how things are going 🤞🤞🙏 xx
