What to do physically when you feel overly hormonal?

I'm 7dp5dt and I'm having one of those times where I just feel really hormonal.

I feel fat and bloated and ugly, and just uncomfortable in my body, and like I don't know what to do with myself. Like I haven't been taking good enough care of myself.

I went out to take a walk but once I was out, found I really wasn't up to it and so I came back home.

What do you do when you feel like this to feel better? Anything to eat? Not eat? Etc?

Have you tried a mindfulness app? I feel from your posts today the 2ww is really getting to you (understandable!!). I found a 10 min Mindful IVF session just let me take a breath and refocus and was like a comforting hug when dealing with the stress of the 2ww.

Good luck xx

Thanks, I can't do mindfulness apps anymore. I did the Mindful IVF one for my first three cycles but now they just stress me out more. For me the best thing is to distract myself and just take care of myself physically. Was curious if anyone had any physical tricks for when they're feeling the hormones (more water, more protein, whatever.)

I have go to TV shows that make me feel good or are really entertaining (Parks n Rec, Lucifer) and feel no shame in treating myself to a hot chocolate! Trying to remind myself just how much hormones actually affect me physically and mentally helps to detach hormones from me. There are some foods high in tryptophan that can help with low mood as they help serotonin production-bananas, almonds, turkey-and as I know they have this effect I think there is some additional placebo affect as well if that makes sense. Sending you hugs xx

I would have suggested light exercise, but that doesn't seem to be doing the trick here.

Have you got some odd jobs you can do that don't require much thought? You'll be restless and unable to concentrate on anything I imagine, so maybe sticking on a series and tackling a pile of ironing would keep you busy and help the time pass without having to focus? And you'll feel productive afterwards.Actual physical tips or tricks - hmm, not sure. Drinking water is never a bad thing. Dishing up a nice colorful dinner for yourself might keep you busy for a while and you'll feel better eating healthy. You're at the mid point of the 2ww and that does seem to be the time despair sets in, we convince ourselves it's all failed and we really don't know what to do with ourselves, time drags but we can't settle on anything to keep our minds occupied... I see you! It's a rotten time, so stressful, but it will be over soon. Fingers crossed for you xxx

I would say try watching a comedy like Schitts Creek on Netflix if you like comedies and just have some comfort food. Nothing too crazy but just comfort yourself. Distance yourself away from stress. Don’t talk to anyone that you don’t really want to. Pick up a new book or watch a film. Anything that involves fresh air. Good luck xx

Ask your partner/ family/ friend for a hug. Physical contact releases oxytocin which will make you feel better! Spend time with pets - if you don't have one, borrow one if you can! They can be total life savers! Get into the garden/ park. Don't have to do much, just sit in the sun, listen to the birds. And of course listen to uplifting music. Put on a nice scented candle. Treat yourself to a nice cuppa and chocolate. Hoping you're feeling better soon! xx
