What did you do for medical insurance when having treatment abroad?

Hi everyone,

Just looking for some advice regarding medical insurance when going abroad for transfer (donor eggs).

What did you do? Did you go with a certain company? How much did it cost?

Part of me does feel like all that needs to happen is the actual transfer and I’ve had a few of those with no problems so do I really need the medical insurance?

I had 3 cycles in Cyprus all DE an just had holiday insurance. You only have transfer and that’s not overly invasive bit like a smear in my eyes! If you we’re using your eggs I’d say yes but with DE I did and know a lot of girls don’t xx

Hi Debbie, first few transfers it didn’t even cross my mind (just had usual travel insurance) but this time I used Medical Travel Shield as we were flying to the US and I wouldn’t have been covered by standard insurance. It wasn’t cheap (just over £100) but I wanted the reassurance xxx

I have just had standard medical insurance for transfer DE but had a hysteroscopy at the start of the year and took out specific insurance for that as it was under GA with Travel Shield.xx
