So we are looking into plan B and I know you give hair, eye colour, height,weight skin tone and blood type. This is for anoymous egg donation.
But what other additional requirements have people asked for ?
I'm thinking 3rd level education If possible !!

Hi! After going through this myself, I decided education level is really situational and a result of nurture, not nature. It is not a big indicator of intelligence in my opinion. The importance people place on education has a lot to do with upbringing, not genetics. I came to this decision because I did not have a large selection of donors to choose from. I wanted to use an identifiable donor, and far less women do this. If I ruled out women who hadn’t gone to university, I ruled out many of the women I otherwise liked.
My first cycle with donor eggs failed and I was devastated. My donor was 24 and I was sure it would work due to her age. All of her other screening tests were perfect, also. She had not had any of her own children, though.
After talking it through with my specialist, I decided it was really important to ensure my next donor had had children of her own. At least one. I wanted to rule out the possibility that the donor could not get pregnant for reasons unknown.

I did a fresh cycle with my first donor, so we did the first fresh transfer and a frozen. With my upcoming one, I am receiving donor embryos from a couple who have finished their family. They are frozen and left over from their IVF treatment.
Unless I go overseas, this is one of my only options where I am, and I was on a waiting list for a number of years to get to this point.
I’m in Australia, and with Covid, it’s pretty much impossible for me to get to Europe. I have also exhausted a lot of my funds at this point.

I’m certainly with you on this!! Especially the education of someone - I cannot understand why you would require the donor to have a university education?! Some of the uni courses are meaningless and no use in the outside world - but because they passed a couple of exams that’s great!
Like you say education is about nurturing not genetics.
If I took my husbands son from his first marriage, my husband had GCSE education and his then wife was a nurse so would have had a similar education.
His son went to university and now works in The entertainment industries in a highly paid position. He achieved that by the opportunities they provided him, like paying for private schooling education.
My sister was our donor and I didn’t even consider her education - for us it was the genetic link that was pivotal

The form has a section on ' additional requirements " so I was only wondering what others had added here.
I was going to put in 3rd level education as I didnt know what else they wanted in this section but I think it's not a big deal and would slow the process down more.

It is weird filling out that form - and difficult. You don’t want to be too picky or you may rule out great donors and draw out the process because it’s too hard for them to find a match. Likewise, you want to have a certain level of control, I mean, you wouldn’t just make babies with anyone!! You also want your child to look like you. On top of that, you want it to happen quickly! So I get it!
If people want to choose a 3rd level education, they most certainly can - and should!
The option of choosing anything has now been taken out of my hands, and I’m kind of glad! Only around 10% of people donate their left over embryos in Australia. It’s completely altruistic. They don’t get paid. So my choice will be limited to 2 or 3 couples who have decided to do this, and I will be more grateful than I can explain, just to have the opportunity.

The clinic we used gave us a form to fill in with physical traits, education level and hobbies. We only requested physical traits but others did make requests for specific education levels and hobbies.
Oh, and you can also request a proven donor - either she has a child of her own or someone has already successfully used her eggs. I requested a proven donor for our first round and we were unsuccessful. Our second round, the donor was not proven but younger and we were successful.
Blood type to match one of you, education... for me giving characteristics didn’t work so I booked a zoom session to go through some profiles.. you should like the donor I guess. All the best xxx
