Additional tests

Hi Ladies. I have recently had 2x failed transfers and have registered with a new clinic, not because I'm unhappy there but this clinic is closer and they offer the payment plan with access fertility. I need to be tested again for Chlaymidia does anyone know how long the test results are valid for and how often you have to get tested as I was last tested December last year. Has anyone managed to get the GP to test for it?

Hiya. I will be starting again in January, with the same clinic I've always been at.

Blood test there are valid for a year with the exception of the HIV test which has to be done every 6 months for a fresh cycle.

For my FET I never had any of the blood tests redone.

Thanks for the reply. I have a consultation end of Nov but won't be starting a cycle until February so I guess I don't need the chlamydia test until they start scanning me etc. X

My GP kindly did all the screening bloods for me (first time round anyway!) I’ve since had them twice again, annoyingly! I was upfront with the GP, I just said with us self funding ivf, any help such as screening bloods would be an amazing help.

I think all these tests (most of them) last 12 month's. Some they may want to test each time - for example toxoplasmosis.

It may be worth asking your gp if they would do the thrombophilia screening too. Xx

Thanks for the reply. Yes I wanted to get tested for this thrombophilia as that could be the possible cause of implantation failure. Not sure my docs will test for it though as I only just managed to get them to do all my bloods before my fresh cycle a year ago. They will do anything to get out of it bearing in mind I hardly ever go to the docs about anything. My clinic do the nk cells and thrombophilia test for £700 so will have to pay out if my GP won't test x

I went to my gp and she was happy to authorise. It can be a few weeks before you get the results though. And apparently they are very sensitive. Good luck x

Indeed! But I wished I could get that too. We have mice in the office and I am dead scared of toxoplasmosis...

Oh, well I am sure you could ask for it x

Like the others have said, at my clinic the test results are valid for a year. Very best of luck at your new clinic. Convenience and affordability are really important factors. Hoping you will be happy with your treatment there xx

My GP was happy to do a subset of tests, so that was already a big help. Results arrived all within one week. So, as many ladies said before me, worth asking yours!
