I have only just started to take a look at this forum again after a longer break. We had our first fresh DE transfer in Oct last year that resulted in a BFN.
I had my 1st DE FET last Thur and OTD is this Sat. Getting a bit anxious as I will be 44 in a month's time and desperate for it to work. We have got one more embryo left in the freezer from the same donor.
For you ladies in your forties that managed to conceive with DE how many attempts did it take for you to get a BFP? (I have never been near a BFP).
Also, if any of you have got experience with donor egg cycles both in the UK and abroad would you say they seem more knowledgable abroad? I would be very interested to hear your views.
Any comments appreciated.

Im not quite is success story but hopeful, Im 41! I got a BFP in my last DE transfer which was my 3rd DE transfer however we lost it at 6wks. We still had one left in the freezer but opted to do another cycle to have some more in the freezer and the clinic had already had hubbys sperm from our last cycle. I can only speak for DE cycles abroad but the advantage for me which was the biggest one was the wide donor pool and to be able to do fresh eggs as opposed to frozen. There seems to be a bit of a shortage of DE in the UK due to the anonymity laws being changed a few years back.xx
thanks for your message. We might consider going abroad as well. My UK clinic only offers eggshare programs so the wait is quite long. We waited 9 months for our current donor...
I read you might be going to Athens soon. Wishing you all the best of luck! x x
We were matched to a donor within days of giving the clinic our information and pictures. It's all pretty quick aboard! Than you!xx
Wishing you all the best. I am 42 and 36 weeks pregnant from our 3rd transfer. The first was bfn, second with 2 embryos was first ever bfp, then miscarriage, 3rd is where we are now. It was my 6th round of ivf, but 3rd with donor xx
Hope yours goes well. Have you tested for proteins and blood clotting? For my 3rd transfer I took baby aspirin every day for a month before, and still taking it now. Xx
Hiya. I’m 8w today after 1st DE cycle in Cyprus. We had 2 transferred and have another 5 in the freezer. We also did PGD so we know they are all good. We had already done 4 cycles with my own eggs, I’m 43 now. Everything about Cyprus was perfect, no wait, big choice of donors and the cost including a 10 day holiday was less than in the UK.
Hopefully you will never have to consider going abroad because you are already preggers! Wishing all the very best xxxx
Hi, I had DE in Spain, 1st FET failed (couldn’t do a fresh as I ended up in hospital in the U.K. having my appendix out), failure of that FET was due to wrong implantation window - discovered after biopsies that my window wasn’t the norm, 2nd DE FET a BFP, currently cuddling my 4 month old lil man ❤️. I’ve just turned 46.
Wishing you lots of baby dust for your BFP on Saturday 🤞🏻
It was 3 days after the normal, so I took extra progesterone & had the transfer 3 days later than with the first FET. It took 3 biopsies to find out but we’ll worth it! Xx
Thanks Michelle! I havent had the mapping done but we pushed my progesterone out last time after a study of implantation failure ladies showed that some have a later window and got a BFP so hoping that's what helped last time!xx
I’m currently cuddling my 10 week old daughter after our 1st DE round in Barcelona. I’m 43 with unexplained infertility. We have 3 good quality embryos in the freezer. I can’t comment on treatment in the uk but I couldn’t really fault our clinic. There was no waiting list which was great. X
Just a little update from me - OTD today and we got our first ever !!BFP!! this morning! After all these years of nothing! Still can't believe it. Will re-test Monday but today I'm going to enjoy being pregnant. Yay! x
