Diet after embryo transfer

Hi all, first time writing but I had my embryo transfer yesterday. I am just wondering what you have all been eating and drinking, have you done anything specific? I have read a lot about cutting out sugar, which I am doing for the obvious foods, but find I am now questioning everything and google is a mindfield 😩 thanks in advance 😊

Hi Violet! Congrats on your transfer! This comes from a very humble place of not having actually gotten pregnant yet but I’m on my third round. I’ve been really strict on diet for one round and then much more easygoing on another and I don’t think it’s made any difference. Apart from the obvious, drinking plenty of water, avoiding caffeine etc, my consultant has given me great advice I think re: everything in moderation, it’s a really stressful time so being kind to yourself is the most important thing. If you fancy some cake or crisps or a take away, don’t deprive yourself or feel bad afterwards, but try and eat a balanced, nutrient-rich diet the majority of the time. Take care of yourself and good luck 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Thank you so much for your kind message!! I agree and think I have just been massively overthinking it all today (but so hard not too) I eat generally healthy but then was second guessing everything, my decaf tea, sausages, eggs on toast 😩😩 nightmare! I will continue as normal and hope for the best, I guess that is all we can do at this stage! Thank you again and good luck to you too 💜

Hello, I agree with the comment above, everything in moderation. I’ve had three transfers and each one I was really, really strict when it came to diet before, during and after transfer. I’m preparing for a new cycle and this time I’ve just allowed myself to eat what I want in moderation really. Allow yourself a treat if you fancy it, but most of all just be gentle and kind with yourself. Best of luck 🍀 xx

Thank you also, I agree, it’s so full on, this is my first time and I really didn’t think we would make it too the embryo transfer and now my mind is just in overdrive I think! I guess you just want to do everything you can, but this was starting to become a thing for me, so it’s good to hear your perspectives 😊 thanks so much again 💛

I echo what the others have said. Eat a healthy balanced diet but do not necessarily deprive yourself of treats apart from the obvious ie alcohol, caffeine. I never cut out sugar although I have it in moderation.

In addition, my clinic told me to read the NHS guidelines on foods to avoid while pregnant during the 2WW

Hoping and praying for a positive outcome for you 🙏🏾

Same, I think eat what you feel like. It's no different. If they are going to stick, it's no odds whether you had the salad or a plate of cupcakes for your dinner! Keep your days as stress free as possible. Good luck.

My clinic said to avoid the foods that the nhs advises to avoid in pregnancy but otherwise that was it. Before pregnancy I ate pretty healthily, but once the pregnancy got underway that went out of the window and all I wanted was rubbish food - beige, fried, takeaways - and I have never eaten like that. Eating crap food hasn't affected my pregnancy so I'd be surprised if it affected after transfer..

Good luck x

As others have said, I ate normally -tww is hard enough without depriving yourself of food you enjoy, just try to stay off a predominance of processed junk. My diet is pretty good anyway as I have various food intolerances so minimal processed food but def allowed myself treats! Drink I mostly drink water anyway but I do like alcohol free fizzy wine some evenings-Sainsburys alcohol free one is the best! And can’t do without a coffee in the morning 😂 xx
