Rollercoaster donor cycle

After the longest week ever the worry just keeps on coming.

My little sister had egg collection last Tuesday she had 17 eggs collected which was amazing. However as I should have been comforting her in recovery I was crying to her. My husbands sleek sample was shocking and they made him try to another and he ended up having to drive home to do it and take it back. There was a worry there would not be enough sperm to eggs so potentially some eggs would have to be frozen. Due to this we got an afternoon update and 12 were mature and all had icsi performed on them.

9 fertilised and yesterday I had transfer of 2 blastocysts of average quality in the words of the embryologist. However consultant and nurse said don’t get caught up on the numbers. 2 were keep till today and to my amazement they are both now in the freezer 😍.

However we now believe my sister has ohss her bloating is so bad so she being seen by the clinic tomorrow.

Sorry for the long post just needed to get it all out xx

Hi

My sister donated to us to!! It is very special what they are doing!!

My sister had 23 eggs collected and they gave her OHSS medication to take away with her as a preventative measure - it’s a shame your clinic didn’t do the same .

By the end of day 5 we were left with three blasts - so I had 1 put back and 2 frozen, the first one they put back we are 15 weeks today

🤞 for you

Hi there

Thanks for sharing. I had 19 eggs collected and I had to have a freeze all cycle due to mild ohss.

I was very very bloated, had bad pain, was so uncomfortable and couldn't sleep very well for about 8 days. I did also get checked out in the clinic and they just said 'yes there is a lot of fluid and the ovaries are enlarged' but they didnt give me anything or tell me to do anything differently. I had to freeze all and will be having a FET at the end of this month.

I think one of the risks with ohss is if you have a transfer and it's a positive pregancy the mild can turn quickly to severe, since you sister will not have the transfer I expect and hope the symptoms will subside after a few days. It sure is awful though. I took paracetamol every 4 hours.

Please send your sister my thoughts and I wish you all the very very best wishes x
