Tapering off steroids ( prednisone), ladies who took it until 12 weeks

To all the pregnant ladies taking steroids (prednisone). What was your tapering off steroids protocol like? I am planing to reduce the dose from 10mg to 5mg for a week and then maybe take 2,5mg for another week and then stop? Any advice is highly appreciated ☺️

I didn't have a tapering off. I use to take 5mg and as soon as i got my postive at 9days past transfer my doctor called and said i should stop the steriods which i did immediately . I am now 14 weeks 5days

Why are steroids given just for understanding all my 4 cycles nothing was given except progesterone

They are used to lower your immune system if the high killer cells are detected. You need to have test for that. If your NK cells are high you probably will be put on steroids so that your body does not recognise the embryo as a foreign body and attacks it.

What are the signs of NK cells being there in an individual ?? Our clinic never bothered about it

There aren’t any signs, you just need to get tested.

Mine was given because i actually have a autoimmune disease that attacks my arteries and veins leaving bruises on my arm and legs. So naturally the doctor knows that my Nk killer cells were high. My first Ivf doctor ignored my disease didn't bother to give me any steriods which lead to a negative but i switch doctors and he gave me steriods and the intralipids and the implantation was successful on my second try.

Did you start your steroids on the ET day or several days in advance? I have been prescribed intralipids a week before and steroids on the day but I think it might not be enough\too late to calm NK cells

I started my steriod pills as soon has my period came along with my other medications. Then on transfer day i was given intralipids 2 hrs before transfer. I only got intralipids on that day. After i got the postive blood 9 days after transfer I stop the steriods pills immediately.

I was also on Prednisone 10mg, my clinic advised me to take until 10 weeks pregnant. I reduced them at 9 weeks and 6 days to 5mg and stopped them completely at 10 weeks and 6 days.

Thank you! Maybe I will do the same, I will just reduce from tomorrow to 5mg for a week and then will stop

I tapered off for a few weeks. I was on 20mg and then started being on 15 for a week, then 10, then 5, then nothing. With steroids, it’s important to gradually reduce the dosage

I went from 10mg to 5mg for 5 days then every alternate day for 5 days then stopped.xx

My miscarriage specialist said to reduce by 5mg every 5 days. No side effects during or after. My face was a bit puffy after the 12 weeks but back to normal after a month or two x

Thank you 😊 Yeah, not liking my round face either... I have reduced from 10mg to 5mg today. Will continue for a week and then I will stop x
