Tapering off steroids

Hi all, I’ve been told by my clinic to start tapering down off steroids, and be finished with them by 10 weeks... I’m a bit scared...

please could you share your experiences with this, isn’t this too early?

My doctor was conservative and let me continue on steroids until 14 weeks. I was on 25mg. Tapered down 5mg a week from 14 weeks. I think the key is that the placenta is fully developed which would be much earlier than when I stopped. So stopping earlier should be fine. I could be wrong though.

Not yet, I haven’t done any transfer. 10 weeks sounds early vs what I read elsewhere.

Hi, I was on prednisolone and started weaning off them at 8 weeks and was absolutely fine. My little boy is now 3 weeks old today. Good luck xx

Hi there!

I’m weaning off right now too. Started with 20 and now down to 10 (I’m 8 weeks now). I’ll be off them by 10 weeks - seems like a pretty standard protocol. I’m a bit nervous too but I have confidence in the doctor so I just go along with what he says.

Hi Lisichka, that's good to know. I was on 25 and reducing every three days with 5, by 10 weeks i should be done too. i suppose they know what they are doing, it seems we are very close together, i am 8 weeks and 3 days today 🤗😊

I think trust your doctor, weaning off at 10 weeks is fairly normal. I’ve looked at other forums to see what other people are doing and 10 weeks seems to be common but some go to 12 and 14 weeks if they had late miscarriages. I think you and I are ok to get off the steroid train at 10 weeks xx
