Hi

Have you been on the HFEA website? If not go on there and they will advise about clinics specialising in the over 40’s

I’m 41, but started at my clinic when I was 37/38.

If I’m perfectly honest you may not be able to use your own eggs. The success rate for someone my age from memory is 5%

I did two complete rounds using my own and I had 1 miscarriage, 3 failed to implant and 2 genetically tested which were chromosomally abnormal.

So I’m not sure what the success rate is at 49.

Obviously something you’ll want to discuss with a consultant

Hello there, I’m afraid but at 49 you most certainly won’t be able to use your own eggs- best option is embryo adoption. There’s plenty of clinics abroad that provide that service I suggest you to look online. Good luck!

Embryo adoption from a known donor or anonymous, surrogacy, adoption, there’s plenty of ways to become a mother, your best bet is contacting a fertility clinic getting a “fertility MOT” and then they’ll be able to advise your best options and what’ll have the best success rate for someone of your age, good luck x

In the US, they will let you try with your eggs at 49 if you want.

I am 49 and currently 27week pregnant with my first child using donor egg. I was given a 2% chance using own eggs during counselling. I still wanted to go ahead so tried for 2 years(failed egg collection/low egg numbers/low quality follicles/failed IUI), so at the end I went along with donor eggs. I was lucky and am now pregnant on my first ivf cycle using donor egg. Our age is not a hinderance as long as we are healthy and are willing to be a parent, but ivf journey can be a long road and you need a support system (very close friends/family) to walk that route. With regard to clinics, I would say look into different clinics. I had a longer journey but decided for a london clinic. It doesn‘t matter where you go, it is a matter if they cater to our needs based on you preference and listen to you and advise options that you can go ahead with. I was not on NHS, so for me it was key I find a clinic for my needs rather than one that just follows standard protocols for all.
