Can I travel two hours so that I can be with my mum? Embryo transfer day plus three at that point.

Can anyone suggest or advise if it is ok to travel two hours on the motorway? The dreaded wait will kill me as I’m miles away from any support. Also, my husband’s 18 year old nephew is staying with us at the moment (asked hubby to take him home but he flat refuses) just feel really cross as I came down to a kitchen full of plates, cups, takeaway packets and general mess! Is it really unreasonable to ask him to take him home? Or should I just escape to my mum’s? I tried to talk to hubby about how I feel and how I’m quite anxious after the transfer but he shouted and said “can you stop talking about it!” I know it’s hard for him but I just feel quite isolated.

What a frustrating situation - I feel annoyed for you big time, and it wasn't unreasonable to ask for your nephew to be taken home at all!

I'd say whatever makes you most relaxed and stress-free will help, so going to your mum's sounds like a very good idea.

My friend caught a flight home from Spain on the day of her transfer, alone, and she got a BFP. As long as it's an easy familiar drive? My opinion is - weighing it up it'd be better for your body to be somewhere you can feet up, but you have to decide what feels best for you. All the very best of luck - when is transfer day? xx

Hi hun. Had the transfer yesterday and OTD is Monday 13th August xx thank you for your advice

I would go to your mums - if you are not driving? Or if driving can relax for the 2 hour journey?

I think that would be more beneficial environment to be in and have your mum take care of you.

Interested to know what others think too....

Xxx

I’ve waited six years for this moment and can’t seem to keep positive. Keep feeling like “what makes you think you are so special, why will it work?” I’m going to check with my consultant first thing tomorrow and fingers crossed I can get myself off!

The process can make us think all sorts of things, many untrue and unkind to ourselves. Your future baby is wanted, so much, and that makes it special, however long, or by whatever process you end up there. Don't be hard on yourself, it's a grueling process and you're taking a step to look after yourself which is great xx Hopefully they will say yes on Monday

Now is the time to put yourself first. Please do what is best for you. If your dad could collect that would be amazing. Xxx

I’m sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time and I’m upset on your behalf that your husband is failing to understand... 🤦🏽‍♀️

This is a huge deal you might find out in a few weeks you’re going to be a mummy and you’ve gone through so much to get to this point.

I’d put you and your potential baby first and go to stay at your mums you don’t need the stress. If the treatment isn’t successful ( not that I am saying it won’t be) you will wonder & resent your hubby for causing you stress at this important time.

I agree with others let your mums and so you can be looked after and feel calmer which is what you need right now. xoxo

Thank you guys, going to my mum’s is definitely the best answer. I’m going to clarify with consultant first. This whole process is terrible. The 2WW is awful!

Just do anything to make your 2ww easier - don't apologise to anyone 😊💕

You should be fine to travel on the motorway, and to be honest it sounds to me as though you will benefit from the break and so will hubbie x

My clinc is a good 1hr 30 to 2 hours away some of it motorway so there's no problem with the traveling. You might want to have someone do the driving on transfer day but you will be fine to drive. Maybe being at your mums might be a good idea. Unfortunately not all men are very helpful at being supportive, they don't always get it. Good luck with your transfer xx

I flew back from Spain to the UK 2 days after transfer and then flew to New Zealand a week later. I got my BFP the day after I arrived back in NZ.
