Sorry if TMI - hopefully looking for some reassurance. I'm 5weeks and 2 days but started having dark brown spots in my discharge yesterday (at first I thought it was the pessaries upsetting my cervix) but it's progressed to thin watery blood on the tp when I wipe after using the bathroom.
I've also had quite painful ovulation type pain on the right hand side of my lower abdomen/hip area. It's like AF cramps but more sharp (if that makes sense?)
I've called my clinic and I'm waiting for a call back but would appreciate advice/experience from you guys.
I'm worried as I feel a bit sick, but no sore boobs or anything - I'm concerned maybe I'm not on enough progesterone?
Thanks x

Update: my clinic basically said there was nothing they can do until my 6 week scan. Take paracetamol for the pain and attend at A+E if I have heavy bleeding.
Anybody got any advice/experience of similar spotting or pain at 5 weeks?
I have had that but the blood was brown and really not much for me but I had inconfortable pain on my side too and it was kind of unusual... I went to the A&E as the pain didn't go after few hours waiting... Also I had low blood pressure but because I was bleeding internally as my body were trying to get rid of it naturally. But if the pain don't ease I would go. That was my first time ever at A&E!
That's good if it's eased off ! I really hope it's not that. It's normal to be worried, when we don't know what's going on inside us it is pretty scary ! The surgery was ok but really I didn't want to believe them when it happened but I didn't even have had time to process the info, I was in surgery ! Good luck, I keep my finger crossed that everything is ok for you. As Nat246 said it can be normal too !
Thank you, honestly your words are so helpful - I can't tell you how much it means to have support from people in the same boat. IVF can be so lonely and even after BFP it's not gotten any easier x
Sorry to hear about such a stressful time for you. I’ve had two ectopics. I only experienced bleeding with one that ruptured my Fallopian tube, the blood was dark red. One ectopic caused sharp pains, the other no pain at all. So I think the side effects vary for every person and each pregnancy- so pain and spotting does not mean it must be an ectopic. These symptoms are also normal in a normal pregnancy so let’s hope this is the case for you. Unfortunately scanning too early does not help solve anything as little baby is just too small to see. I have since had a healthy pregnancy and had pains during that time, nothing wrong though, pains can just be your uterus stretching. So keep hoping and looking after yourself until your scan xx
Hiya i started spotting brown around 5 half weeks witch turned to red and clots and i was so sore. Im now just over 9 weeks pregnant still brown staining but baby seems to be ok. Aslongs u are not filling pads u should be ok 🤞 xx
Thank you so much, I've been really scared. It's really helpful to read other people's experiences. I keep having period type pains, just hoping that it's implanted safely and is actually in my uterus! X
Ive a few cramps in my groin and legs im hopeing its just my uterus stretching 🙏 im the same I've been outa my mind these last couple off weeks i cant wait till the 23rd till see my little one again. I dont think the worry ends till we have are little ones in are arms. Xx
I’ve had 2 ectopics both ruptured and lost both tubes . I did have initial pain in region you describe but I didn’t have any bleeding but mine were quite rare in that both had heartbeats x
I'm so sorry for everything you've been through, thank you for sharing your experience. I'm just keeping everything crossed til the scan on Tuesday 20th x
I had an ectopic in 2017. It ruptured at about 9 weeks pregnant and I had emergency surgery to remove my tube. My first symptoms were watery discharge which looked like prune juice - this is quite common with ectopics apparently. I also had dull aching pain on my lower left side. The other symptoms I remember were needing to go to the toilet more often and having an upset stomach. I was sent away from A&E at about 8 weeks and told it was normal pregnancy pains but I knew deep down that something was wrong. So my advice would be if you are at all worried still, insist on getting your HCG checked 48 hours apart as a first step - that will give you a good indication re how things are going. Mine continued to rise but didn’t double, that’s when the hospital realised something was going on. Wishing you lots of luck and here if you need any advice. X
Thanks so much for the advice, I really appreciate it. I'm going to see if my clinic will check my HCG, they seemed pretty insistent that I have to "wait and see".
The pain is on and off, so hopefully it's just unrelated cramps of some kind but the spotting and watery, bloody vaginal discharge has me worried x
