Feeling deflated! Low amh and right ovary is hiding behind my uterus!

Hi all. So im feeling so deflated at the moment. I just had my initial consultation with my IVF clinic after having all my scans and tests done. I have a low amh of 5.07 with 9 antral follicles showing on my scan. 3 on my left ovary and the rest on my right. The right ovary looks like my strongest option except that its moved behind my uterus which means it will be very difficult to get too during egg collection. I have to go on the highest dose of medication. I didn't even realise it was possible for ovaries to move around like that has anybody experienced this and also know any ways on how you can get it back to where its supposed to be?

Hi, my left ovary is always moving about.. it has been wrapped in my bowel and regularly hides behind my uterus.

The first round of IVF they didnt get to it, but they didnt know about it until EC. Whereas all the subsequent rounds they always managed to get to it, most of the time they did it by manipulating my stomach whilst I was sedated to try and move things around. You can't move it yourself but they can often do so.

Its a positive that they know and honestly you will be surprised, some days you can't scan my left ovary at all and others days its literally there waving!

Good luck x

Oh thank you I dont feel as deflated about the low amh as I do about the potential of not being able to access the ovary

Hi, I was in a very similar situation to yourself I have low AMH 4.something (I’ve tried to forget about it lol) and my left ovary has always been tucked away behind my uterus. Typically this is the ovary that responds the most. For me it has just meant that the monitoring scans take a bit longer and I sometimes get asked to get in weird and wonderful positions. They struggled to accurate measurements on the follicles on that ovary but I have had two egg collections now and they were able to access it both times. Due to the sedation they can have a nice prod around in there but I was just quite sore afterwards for a couple of days. Anyway that’s my experience hope that helps a bit. You have an exciting journey ahead 🤞 all goes well for you. I am currently in my TWW and although I never get very many eggs the quality has always been good so don’t let your AMH get you down either xx

Hi thank you for your reply. How many embryos did you create this time? My consultant recommended dhea so im going to try that to boost my quality. Good luck for test day!

I got 4 eggs and ended up with two top quality embryos (or so they say!) They always recommend a three day transfer for me because of the low number they don’t want to risk trying for blastocyst. I’ve heard a lot of good things about dhea so hope that helps. Thank you so much 1 more week to go! X

I can definitely relate to the issue with access to my ovary. For me it is my left behind the uterus, behind the right ovary? 🤔My scans are always interesting for sure.

My last egg retrieval they were able to get to the left ovary. The good thing is that they found out during my initial consultation that putting pressure on my stomach helps to reveal its hiding spots. Some clinics will go for an abdominal retrieval. I did go to a clinic where they told me point blank that they will not be able to access that ovary. Needless to say I went to another clinic!

Good luck with your stims...
