Delaying progesterone because the clinic "are busy" ?!

Is this a common thing? Does it have any impact? I went in for my day 14 FET scan - lining is ready to go, but they are keeping me on estrogen and have delayed my transfer by a whole week because they are busy??!!

Does delaying progesterone have any impact? Can't reach my doctor, as usual. Any experiences much appreciated x

Hey love, I had this happen to me on my NHS cycle so I think it might be fairly common practise? Are you with NHS? Xx

in reply to Peanutchips

Nope, private - costing me £3,500 just for the transfer (with meds)....Did it have any impact on your cycle?

My cycle wasn’t successful but i changed quite a few things for my next go so could be any number of reasons for why it didn’t work. I’m sure they wouldn’t do it if they thought it would negatively impact your cycle though, don’t worry xxx

Personally I wouldn’t be happy with that! Is this a medicated FET? Assuming this is an NHS clinic?

I always understood that the beauty of medicated FET was that they could do the transfer when it suited the clinic and the patient - they can kind of keep you in a 'holding pattern' for a while. I would have thought they'd be a bit more organized than to have you start on the medication and then realize they wouldn't be able to do the transfer until so late, but I think it's just frustrating for you rather than negatively affecting the transfer. Best of luck xxx

My blood work was delayed this month so my FET was pushed back by 6 days - absolutely no issues, they keep you on oestrogen and just start your progesterone later xx

Thanks so much - did doctor reassure you this has zero impact? Did it impact your cycle? x

So I’m in the dreaded 2ww now 🙈 but yes, they reassured me it’s absolutely fine, the main thing is your progesterone level for the day of transfer. Good luck xx

Massive luck to you!! Fingers crossed xx

It's common for clinics to do this. Dont worry it doesnt affect your cycle if it's only for a few days!! Good luck.xx

Thanks so much! It is a whole week - do you think that is still ok? x

My clinic used to leave on estrogen for a max of around 19 days. I'm sure what they have planned will be fine or they wouldn't do it hun.xx

Hi, I'm in the same boat a delay of 7 days compared to normal, they said that it can be of benefit as the lining can become triple layered in the extra time xx

in reply to Montgomery2

Thanks so much....my lining is already triple layered which is why I am panicking :) x

This happened to me too (private clinic), delayed by 5 days even though lining was ready etc. Was so annoying as keen to get going. It hasn’t had a negative impact on me - I got my bfp last week!

Hi, It’s not an issue to carry on with oestrogen longer (even several weeks) & delay progesterone from what my consultant said, however, I’ve had 2 cancelled medicated FETs as for me personally, I lose the trilaminar structure beyond around day 15. On my second failed cycle my lining even shrunk between day 13 and day day 17 whilst still on same levers of oestrogen. If you have to wait (I’d be really annoyed if private) then I’d definitely insist on another scan before starting the progesterone to check your lining is still good x
