Transvaginal ultrasound and period

So I'm due to have my transvaginal ultrasound next week (checking fertility etc in prep for possible IVF) however my current cycle is a bit long after my endometriosis excision lap (end of Jan). I may be on my period when they do the transvaginal ultrasound, is this a problem? Should I contact the clinic and ask?

It’s not a problem.. I’ve had a few whilst on my period. I wasn’t expecting to have one when I went along to an appointment so when I said I’m on my period, she said it’s fine unless I was uncomfortable with that xx

I had it done on Friday last whilst on day 3 of my period, I was grossed out at the thought of it but the nurse was lovely and didn’t even bat an eyelid. This must be a regular occurrence for them. I even apologised lol and she said don’t worry completely normal. Good luck x

Yeah I don't mind periods but not one of those that feels comfortable enough with it. I'm fine with cups and stuff but that's where I draw the line and I don't feel like subjecting someone else to all that blood! Glad to know the nurse was fine with it x

I’ve had lots of baseline scans done, all on day 2 so on my period. The nurse at the clinic told me it’s the best time to see everything as it’s when everything in there is at its calmest. Don’t worry about it - I’m sure they’ve seen worse!

My endometriosis flares up during my periods :( so not always the calmest time. I shall take some painkillers a bit before the appointment.

Dont worry about it! The clinics are used to this as they are used to scanning early in your cycle. Just mention it to them so they know to expect it.xx
