Did anyone have ET without it being ultrasound guided? I noticed that when i paid for the 2 rounds with Access Fertility the price included ultrasound guided ET but i didnt have this as the nurse just put them on a catheter and inserted them herself whilst i was lying on the bed. X
Embryo transfer without ultrasound? - Fertility Network UK
Embryo transfer without ultrasound?
Tht sounds a bit odd, how does she know where shes put them?
She just looked up there whilst i was legs akimbo and put the catheter in, then afterwards got the embryologist to look at the catheter under her microscope to ensure they were no longer there x
Hi I’ve never had an ultra sound when I have had any of my transfers. I’m currently 7 weeks pregnant x
At my clinic one of the doctors doesn’t use ultrasound as he finds it better. Have everything crossed for you xx
Haha! My double embryo transfer actually failed back in Feb. But i did wonder whether ultrasound should have been used. I am somehow convinced she had dropped them on the floor 😂
Well if it doesn’t work u will need to say something, I plan on using access fertility too xx
What option are you going for? They have a refund one but its really expensive x
3 rounds 100% for £11,000 (approx) but I’m still choosing xx
I’ve never done ivf before and if it works first time I’ll be pleased but about 7k down xx
Yeah we had 2 cycles that cost £7750 no refund and meds came to £3000 for both cycles. We had to take a loan out too so have interest to pay back. Im going to Cyprus next as it will be cheaper for us. Its a rip off in the UK xx
Omg the cost is scary ... my head tells me I only need one try (stick two embies in job done) but my heart is saying ‘what if it fails?’ money gone, happiness down the drain xx
I just wished meds were included its a shame they cost so much x
Yea they said between £1k and £1200 each round. I’m still not fully decided yet - it’s a lot of money and I’m trying to work out what the best way forward is. I don’t want to spend thousands and end up with no baby basically which is the appeal of the refund programme. I was going to go abroad but my mum was like no - if it goes wrong you’ll be upset and she offered to help me out xx
Were going abroad next as it didnt work here in the UK and i will need to go down the route of donor eggs i reckon. For the first round or so i would definately stay in UK as you might be lucky xx
I really hope so, I was going to donate my eggs for free ivf but I’m emotionally connected atm so haven’t gone down this road. I haven’t ruled abroad out, just hoping it works for me here xx
I will keep my fingers crossed you xx
I shall for you too xx
Hi AJJ123 and Hidden
Just to butt in- have you researched if you can get your meds cheaper privately?
You can take the prescription from
The clinic and source your own meds.
Asda are generally the cheapest and have a no profit ivf meds policy I believe. I just bought my meds from them and halved the cost of frozen ET meds from £500 to £250
Every little helps !
Hi Saya85 i found out about this after my first round of treatment which was too late. The second round happened quite quickly so we didnt have time to look around. I was also on the maximum dose a woman can be on 8 doses per injection so i guess i would have still had to pay quite a bit for mine. But i will consider it for next time thankyou hun Xxx
Both of my transfers were like yours, using a catheter. In the end the embryos weren’t quite right so became chemical pregnancies, but what it does show is that process of putting them in unguided works just fine, so try not to worry x
Anyone has used ABC IVF clinic?? Was looking at the price which is more affordable? PM me if anyone has please.
I queried this on my NHS transfer at Liverpool women's, of which they stated that they have trialled using ultrasound and the success rates weren't any higher. My second transfer was a nightmare and my womb went into contractions as they touched an area at the top of my womb that should be avoided. After that I asked to mr moved to another clinic that did ultrasound, which ever since I've had no transfer issues. I do have a tilted womb which won't have helped, but more reason for the ultrasound. I'm now going through access fertility and that it part of my package which I have had. Lots of clinics still seem to not use it, and think it's more they have learnt over the years to do them without, so probably the younger generation of doctors that have been taught with the ultrasound. For me though after my experience I would always ask for it just to ease my anxiety more than anything. But that's all because of what happened otherwise I would have been fine not having one, as my first transfer was very straight forward and that was without ultrasound guidance x
In my previous clinic it was like this. Always very uncomfortable. It was one of the reasons I moved to my new clinic who are amazing.
