Ultrasound clinics Scotland

Hi,

I live in Edinburgh and I'm about to start a donor FET in London. Period has arrived on an unexpected day (always the way!) and I need a baseline scan tomorrow or Tuesday but neither Ultrasound Direct, ABC4D or Window to the Womb have availability anywhere in Scotland......The nearest I can find is Leeds or Newcastle. Any suggestions for other ultrasound places in Scotland?

Thanks!

I am sorry I do not know anywhere else. The places you mentioned have branches throughout the central belt. Ultrasound direct have a central phone line. Have you tried calling to explain the situation and maybe they can do something? maybe you can try Nuffield ? I looked it up once although the prices were completely unacceptable. They need referrals etc but your clinic can sort this.

There is also the private fertility clinic in Glasgow. You can call and see if they do stand alone Ultrasound scans?

I am in Glasgow and had treatment abroad several times. I know the stress of trying to get scans and bloods in Scotland.

Each time I was using the places you mentioned and I was booking ahead roughly when I needed it to be and then phoned up to say I might need to reschedule with short notice. Most of the time my original booking was ok. On a couple of occasions I had to book at 2 different places and ended up losing my deposit for the place I didn't use.

Thanks for this detailed reply - sorry you've had the same stress! I think your idea of booking multiple slots is the way forward. I had booked two days but then period was out of whack (stress of IVF no doubt!) and there were no Scottish slots left with those companies on the days I needed. In future I'll just have to book a wider spread of days in advance and accept that a deposit or two may be added to the burning money endeavour that is IVF....!

Hey, you could always try the Edinburgh clinic which is now Nuffield or Dundee fertility consultants. I always used ultrasound direct and used to travel and usually got something. Ninewells Hospital in Dundee do private work too. Good luck.xx

Ps check to see if its just an endometrial thickness as Glasgow Ultrasound Direct have an appt on Monday.....

Alas it needs to be endometrial thickness AND follicle size , but you are so kind for hunting for me! 😊

Damn, hope you find something. I had to jump through hoops for my treatment too living in the sticks so know what it's like!!xx

I did thanks! 🥳 It's a nightmare isn't it?! Feel like I'll have earned a degree in logistics when I'm done with IVF!

I’d try TFP - they have an Edinburgh satellite clinic

I’m in Edinburgh as well and share your stress about scans - I had the same drama for my cycles abroad. Unfortunately the ones you’ve mentioned are the only ones I know of so hope you get sorted.

Dundee fertility associates have a clinic in Tayside complete health on Commercial Street in Dundee. They’re contactable by email only. If you drop them an email they’re reasonably quick in replying.

I secured a scan for tomorrow 👍 Thanks lovelies for all the thoughtful replies, ideas and empathy - so appreciated knowing its not just me. Seems I massively underestimated how stressful securing scans would be! I figured as there are lots of branches of those companies across Scotland and given we are willing to travel anywhere in Scotland it would be fine 🤦ABC4D said they only have 2 people trained in fertility scans and one is on mat leave and the other on holiday, so just particularly unlucky timing I guess.
