Egg retrieval done yesterday. In the scan I had 11 on the left and 8 on the right. The doctor even said that I have many. When I woke up, I had a shock of my life when the nurse said they only collected 7.
It took me some time to register the info. Where did the other 13 go?? I'm only 33 this year and have normal AMH. Is my egg count low? That means I only have 7 chances. I was too depressed and in pain throughout the day. Waiting for the hospital to call me to update me on the fertilisation progress. Keeping fingers crossed. Looks like being pregnant and having my own is gonna be nothing but a dream 😪

I had 22 on scan but only 6 retrieved so I understand how you’re feeling right now. I’m the same age with a normal AMH too. We ended up with 4 good quality embryos (currently on 2WW with a frozen cycle). Please don’t lose hope, everything crossed for good news from the embryologist tomorrow xxx

Hello. Please don’t be disheartened. We had 21 eggs retrieved. Only 8 fertilised and we ended up with 2 embryos. It doesn’t matter the number you start with, 1 you need for a baby. I’m 4 weeks pregnant - stay positive ❤️ Best of luck to you xxx
Hi Boboveena, I can completely relate to your story. I am so sorry for your sadness but please take hope...there are many people that would be delighted to have 7 chances! But I understand that this wont make you feel better.
I had over 20 folicles measuring 18mm and over when I went in for my egg retrieval and I have a high egg reserve to the point where they thought I had PCOS (I don't)... and they retrieved 7 eggs and only 6 were mature. I was depressed too. Of those 6 mature eggs only 3 made it to day 5 blasts.
I had a chemical on the fresh transfer, a BFN on the first FET and now I am gearing up for the FET of my last little blast. I know how sad you are about the odds. We come into IVF with SO MUCH hope...and then we start to realise that the science behind everything and how our bodies react is just brutal guesswork. It's very disheartening. I get it. It's not fair. But it is the hand we are dealt and we need to keep going if we want to have a chance at being mommies!
You can do this. You have SO MUCH on your side. You are young - I wish I were 33. LOL And you have he strength to keep going...7 eggs is 7 chances and that is great! Because it only takes the right one to stick! This journey knocks you around but keep your chin up and keep those fingers crossed! It just takes the right one of those little eggs of yours to become a baby. xxxxxx
The reason why I'm so upset is because i have endometriosis. My body didn't react well to all the stimulation drugs and I was in constant pain for the 2 weeks that I was on them. I was off work for 2 weeks and was on 10 panadol daily to curb all the pain that came on every few hours.
Thus, if this cycle doesn't happen, I may not even try the second one. I don't have the strength physically and mentally to go through it again. 😪
Hi boboveena I hope your feeling ok after the process , don’t be to disheartened with the result , I had mine done yesterday they managed to retrieve 6 eggs , I’m so delighted with this amount because I only had 2 viable on my first round . I’m nervous about the outcome we just have to think It only takes 1 good one , let’s hope we both get good news
I mentioned before I too have endometriosis so I understand how painful the cycle can be , but you’ve got this far with 7 chances let’s have hope for the next step xx
Stay positive! It’s so easy to become bogged down with numbers! I retrieved 7 eggs and was really upset too but they all fertilised...3 made it to day 5. One of them is my little boy! It only takes one!! Good luck! Xx
Hello, please don’t be disheartened with that number! I had egg collection last week. 6 were retrieved, all 6 fertilised and 3 got to blastocyst, I had one transferred yesterday and two are in the freezer. As people say it’s quality not quantity.
Defo think positive, I had 25 eggs collected on my 2nd ivf and only 2 made it to day 5- one put back and my now 3 year old little girl 😊 I have no problem getting lots of eggs but our fertilisation rate drops off so fast, remember it only takes 1 xx
I know it’s hard but try and stay as positive as you can. I only had 1 egg retrieved. You can imagine my concern. And i now have a 10 month old. It really does only take one. Good luck x
Oh the numbers game of IVF is horrible!! Honestly though please don’t get hooked on the numbers. At my egg retrieval I got 33 eggs and only 14 fertilised. I ended up with 5 embabies. My friend collected 7 eggs and ended up with 5 embabies too!
It’s so easy to say don’t focus on the numbers as I did, but stay positive ❤️
I thought having my own would be nothing but a dream but I’m currently cuddling my 6 week old. It will happen!
You just need 1, and hubby is right it's quality over quantity. I'm 33 with low AMH so I only had 4 follicles grow. I'm 33 weeks pregnant with one of little embryos and I have 2 frozen.

Oh love it sounds like you've been through a rough cycle do far. Seven Amy well be enough to fulfill your dreams of s family, it is super tough but I hope you can stay positive. Are you having ICSI alongside IVF?... We had four follicles... Only two eggs retrieved but two become embryos.... We didn't get a BFP from that round but I remember the embryologist telling me a story of a woman who had 1 egg retrieved... Around 40 years old and husband had to have surgery to extract sperm.... They got pregnant with one egg and one sperm .. xx
Sorry to hear you are unhappy with your number. Ivf is really an emotional rollercoaster and there are no promises. I am your age with pcos and have had two cycles now resulting in no good quality blastocysts. My doctor recommended egg donation. I understand your sadness, but I would give anything for 7 tries. Wishing you best of luck xx
Try to stay positive. I had similar numbers and they collected 8 on the day, 7 mature and 3 fertalised into 5 day blastos. We’ve had one popped back in and 2 in the freezer. This is my second cycle and it is true what they say quality over quantity, even though we get so hung up on the numbers. Good luck🤞🏼
Hello, please don’t be disheartened 😘 I had only 5 mature eggs retrieved but 4 made it to day 5 blast (I’m 38 so I think my embryologist must have been a magician lol). I’ve recently gotten a BFP with the last of them. Anything can happen, wishing you lots of luck ❤️
I had a very similar situation - at least 15 follicles on scan, only 6 eggs collected. It turned out that my trigger shot wasn't strong enough. So next time we had double the dose and it was much better xx
To make you feel better, I'm 37 and very low amh and still got pregnant without ivf. Your egg count is really good. I would have dreamed of 7 eggs to be collected. I only had 4 follicles and 1 egg collected which is in the freezer. I had to do much more egg collection just to get 5 in total to go through ivf but got pregnant naturally. Really don't worry you will get pregnant! Plus your age is on your side, just be patient it will happen.
I had 14 follicles and ended up with only 4 eggs of which 1 fertilised. 1! I was very disappointed too but the more feedback I got from other members, I realise that whats important is the final number that make it to blastocyst and of course survive implantation. Hope all goes well with fertilisation.. Xx
A lot of these people are saying don't be disheartened. I think it's ok to be a bit sad just accept the emotions you are feeling in the here and now. Be kind to yourself!
Hey Dear, I know that feeling. I am on the same boat as you. We also have a drop of usable eggs. Out of 19 follicles 11 eggs are collected, in which only 7 are fertilized. The number of eggs doesn't matter. We need only one egg for a baby. I think every round has possibilities, so I have hope. You are too young to have strength to keep going on with 7 eggs. Don’t be disheartened. Stay believe in God and my prayers are also with you. Good luck…..🤞
I had my egg retrieval yesterday, found out at an earlier scan that I only had 6 follicles, they confirmed that they retrieved 6 eggs yesterday then this morning rang me to say only 3 had fertilised, so I’m not feeling very hopeful at this moment in time, fingers crossed for you that everything turns out good
Thanks dear for your wishes. I can understand your situation. I can just tell you to stay positive. As I go through a lot of sites and google them . I came to know only 1 egg needed to be pregnant. My prayers are with you. 🤞
I know it’s hard but really try to focus on the positive here that you have 7 eggs - that’s not a low number. I remember seeing about people who would retrieve a lot and I couldn’t understand why I wasn’t the same (I’m similar age to you). My last round I got 6 eggs out of which 4 made it to day 5 so the odds weighed up in my favour after that. So even though it’s hard, you may not need more than 7 so try not to think that won’t be enough...it may be all you need xx
