My husband has been taking a number of supplements to improve sperm parameters. He has done an at home sperm kit a couple of times since the results from the clinic and his sperm results seem to be getting worse. Is. It possible the supplements are actually having a negative impact?

Can supplements actually make male fertility worse?
Hi there, I’m not an expert but I wouldn’t have thought this is likely.. has he changed his diet? (Been drinking more/bad foods/smoking/hot testicles etc?) as this may affect it x
Home kits are extremely unreliable! I would get another official test done. I have only ever seen supplements improve sperm. But many other factors can reduce sperm numbers and quality e.g. baths/tight underwear/cycling/sitting at a desk for long hours/keeping phone in pocket/alcohol etc some researcher also say protein shakes reduce sperm. Any infection such as even a mild cold can reduce numbers for that cycle as well. If there is a varicocele that is getting worse that will also reduce the sperm.
Hi Lavendartea. I must admit I'm not one for endless amounts of supplements, for if he is eating a good diet with plenty of protein and zinc, that might help a little with motility. A good quality multivitamin for men would have what is required, so perhaps go for one of those. Obviously see what your/his GP/specialist recommends. I don't have to tell you about alcohol, caffeine and smoking - there, I've said it! Make sure each specimen provided is 2 months after the previous one to allow for sperm to mature. Good luck! Diane
