Egg retrieval pains

I have had my 2nd round egg retrieval today, my first round was painless and I felt fine afterwards, however today after my second egg retrieval I have really bad pains on my left side, more in my back and hip than anywhere else. It’s like a sharp pain which eases off then seems to come back. Has anyone experienced this? The usual paracetamol doesn’t seem to relieve it however it does lessen the pain a little. Any advice would be amazing xxx

Hi Abby,

Ive been much the same. Had my second round egg retrieval on Friday. First time round i bounced back really quickly. This time im still so sore and was when i first came round.

I can only describe the pain as indigestion in my womb that radiates round to my back!

Saw Dr today he barely batted an eyelid at it, said its normal. I’m trying to be reassured by that.

Try & rest as much as you can xx

Hi love, I was in terrible pain after my egg retrieval. I could hardly walk and paracetamol barely made a difference. The severe pain lasted 2 days and then I had about 3 more days of moderate-mild pain. All of this is to say, I don’t think it’s too uncommon! You’ve just been stabbed in the ovaries after all 😝 Wishing you all the best ❤️

You poor thing! Try not to worry, everyone feels so differently after EC. Both times I have been in a lot pain during and afterwards, always takes me a long time to recover. Rest up, keep up with the paracetamol, lots of water (and I had milk too) have meals with lots of protein in too, and when you can do short walks and movement when you're ready, and eat small meals rather than big ones. Hope it eases off for you soon. Good excuse to lie on the sofa and watch Netflix, hope you've got some time off xx
