Hello everyone.

I had egg retrieval on Wednesday and provisionally booked for emybro transfer tomorrow.

I am really bloated and uncomfortable after egg retrieval. Is this completely normal? I'm worry I may have Ohss!!

Any tips on how to help the bloating would be great fully received!!

It is totally normal to feel like a beached whale, bloated and yucky! Having said that, keep an eye on your symptoms incase it could also be ohss, and speak to your clinic. If your weight is increasing a lot post EC or your waist then it needs looking into and the clinic can check with a blood test. Try drinking lots of water, gentle exercise only and check with your clinic but think you can take paracetamol. I used a gentle warm hot water bottle too (but not after ET!)

Best of luck with your ET xx

Hey Penman,

I haven’t had one yet ... but have done lots of reading on it and have had friends say it is quite uncomfortable and definitely a feeling of bloated.

Hoping your symptoms settle for you.

I’m off for mine on Monday, so I think the sofa and Netflix will be my friend for that day or more for sure.

Following you and your journey on here as you are just ahead of me in this cycle ...

Hope you have a relaxing weekend xx

All the best for Monday!! I'd definitely recommend a Netflix day and they day after.

I am provisionally booked for embryo transfer today, just awaiting the call from my clinic!! Xx

I’m pretty sure it’s normal to feel bloated after egg retrieval. I’ve had it every time. My 1st round it was really bad and got increasingly worse as the week went on. My stomach was huge and really painful, I was struggling to sit down. In hindsight I should have contacted the clinic. They commented on it at embryo transfer and said mild dose of OHSS. On my 2nd & 3rd rounds I drank loads after EC, especially coconut water as I had read somewhere about it being good due to the natural electrolytes or something. Might have been complete luck but who knows. Definitely keep an eye on your symptoms and speak with your clinic if you are concerned. Good luck for your transfer xx

Thank you. I spoke to my clinic who said it was completely normal. I'm starting to feel a bit less bloated and peppermint tea has been my saviour. Thanks for all your advice xx
