Progesterone concerns

Hey peeps. I'm currently going through the 2ww. 9dp5dt. Haven't tested yet and OTD is Sunday. It's a fresh cycle and my first go so I'm extremely naive to a lot that is going on.

I have been told by my clinic to come off crinone on Sunday after my test regardless of outcome. This is worrying me as I've seen a lot of people on it 7+ weeks. Has anyone come off it this early and been OK??? I've asked my clinic for more and it's a firm no. They said I don't need it as its a fresh cycle.

Please help! And thanks in advance!

Hello, firstly good luck for tomorrow! Sending lots of luck ❤️ I’m not sure if your clinic follows a standard approach but I’ve done 3 rounds with both fresh and frozen cycles and I’ve been on crinone until a negative test, or if it would have been positive then I’d have been on it until around 10 weeks, whether fresh transfer or not. It is an expensive drug so maybe that’s a factor in the clinic’s policy (I’m not sure if it’s NHS or private)? if they stop the crinone they should be keeping a close eye on your prog levels to keep them high enough. If your result tomorrow is positive I’d ask them how they’ll ensure your prog is high enough, for example will they test your prog level straight away and give you injections instead of crinone? I’d probably ask to speak with the doctor and be really assertive about it (I find doing that hard but sometimes you have to push them!) Good luck xxx

Hey doll thanks for replying!!! I spoke to them yesterday after I sent an email and they pretty much said that they go by the science and only women on frozen cycles get put on crinone longer and without being cheeky they said they weren't given me any more. So I have to use what I have then I'm on my own!! Something to do with I'll be making enough progesterone myself once I get my positive. Then I don't have any scans till 3 weeks later. I'm NHS so maybe its to do with that. All I know is I'm dreading tomorrow for test day and coming off the gels. Xx

I just had my first fresh cycle and transfer too in late November. It has been overwhelming taking it all in, I tried to educate myself in certain areas, but advice seems to differ a lot so not sure why. We were so lucky and got a positive test in December. I was not on Crinone, but was on Cyclogest pessaries, two at night. Not sure if they are cheaper or not, but just what our clinic does as a standard I think for first round (unless known problem). Our round was NHS funded too. We got told to keep going with progesterone. They said we would not need as long as if it had been frozen cycle, because you do produce your own - but they did say to do it for 7-8 weeks after positive test. We got told to stop it after our viability scan at 7 weeks.

So I am afraid I don’t know what is right. But I would like to think fertility clinics are experts in this area surely - so surely they would do what was right for you.

I just wanted to wish you all the best for your test today!! Hoping it is successful for you!! 🤞🥰
