Accidentally swallowed pessary 🤦🏾‍♀️

Can you believe it? Oh my goodness. What happened was, I was making my morning tea, running through various things in my mind. So I go to where all my pills are and took out my pessary and my estrace. Meant to swallow estrace but ended up swallowing both. Wasn't till I was opening the applicator wrapper that I realized the pessary wrapper was already empty. I don't even have words for my shock. I wondered if to go throw up but decided against it cos it melts pretty fast and I didn't want to risk too many contractions in my stomach if I tried to heave.

Spent the morning on the phone with poison control (they said it was fine, just to eat something so stomach lining isn't irritated) and then the clinic also said it wasn't an issue and to just take another progesterone pessary (vaginally this time!) 😅😅😅

It's been a heck of a day. Just wanted to write this in case someone else who's as scatterbrained as me does this too! Phew!😩🙈

That's so funny, you poor thing, I bet the look on your face was priceless!!

I know utrogestan can be taken orally or used as a pessary or even a suppository (confusingly!!) so I wouldn't think taking your pessary orally would have any side effects xxx

I'm on endometrin and I read on their website to call poison control if taken orally. I was a bit confused too

if it makes you feel any better i once put eye drops in my dads ears by accident and he was deaf for nearly 3 weeks

I remember my clinic saying to me someone did this before and they were fine - I emailed panicking as id forgot to do it her reply was don’t worry it happens at least you didn’t swallow it

I was so puzzled at first so I asked her what she ment and that’s when she said we had someone once swallow one 🤣 it did make me chuckle at the time.
