Hello again

I can't put into words how I feel that Covid-19 is preventing me from my having my embryo transfer. Upset, frustrated, dissapointed, angry... I will be 43 in March. I have waited months and months to get to this point including having IVF postponed during March lockdown.

I know I need more more progesterone before the FET thanks to ERA and now I cant do anything except wait till Covid is under control again so that the boarders open.

Has anyone got experience of having embryos couriered to the UK? I was told it takes 6 weeks and about £900 but that was before lockdown.

On top of this I hate my job and had a failed job interview.

It would be nice to hear from someone.

Hi Florence I'm so sorry to hear about your frustrations, no wonder you are fed up, it must be so tantalising to know your embryos are just there.... but it is wonderful that you have 3 normal embryos, that is a huge success and I hope you get to them soon 🧡

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Yes it is tantalising. They are my last attempts really as I don't think another round of IVF is feasible as Im nearly 43.

So sorry to read this recent update can only imagine how frustrating this is. I remember how I felt last year during lockdown 1 when I had my cycle postponed. It was devastating especially as my mind and body felt more ready than ever !!!!

IVF is stressful enough without added stress.

All I can say is everything happens for a reason and please don’t panic you are approaching 43.

I am 45 at the end of this month and 6 months pregnant as you know with my second IVF miracle it has been a bloody ongoing battle to get here.

Just remember a ‘given up battle is never won’.

Wishing you all the best as always 😘

Thanks Hope76.I think its the not knowing how long I will have to wait that's bugging me. The Czech Republic closed its boarders before UK lockdown because they had high infection rates. But now with the UK being seen ad the originators of the New Super Infectious Strain of Covid, I feel it will be a long time before they open their boarders to the UK, even though they were already asking for a covid test within 2 days of arrival (clinic were performing covid tests. Can you imagine having taken all the expensive drugs and travelling to Czech Republic only to be told sorry you have Covid, no transfer? That was aways a worry and my work were expecting me to return to a 'safe' open plan office just because they'd had plastic screens installed...)

Anyway, your story is hopeful and thanks for your support as always xxxx Stay safe xxxx

Hey.. we are using a clinic abroad and are still allowed to travel on health grounds. There is a great Facebook page that talks about this.. but yes there are women on there that travelled to Czech as recently as yesterday. There is a lot of confusion but so long as you have a covid test and have your medical paperwork you can travel. Send me a pm if you’d like me to link you to the page as it has links to the relevant parts of the Uk and Czech government websites xx

Oh I understand your frustration, mines are exactly the same. I am having my treatment in Spain. January I should have been on birth control and Feb end of the month transfer. Government advised for essential travel only so medical treatment is essential enough I think, I am exploring now this path. I would prefer to fly alone and return on the same day, so just for transfer. We also have 3 PGS tested embryos on ice and I wanted to transfer 2. I love your comment about work place mine is exactly the same "Covid secure" (with plastic screens just to some of the desks, I personally don't have one) but I call it "Covid friendly" work place instead of secure.

I will call my clinic in a week to discuss whether Spain will allow me to enter for medical reasons by air, otherwise we will go by car if possible.

All the best 💓🤗

Hi, I'm waiting on my period end of January and hope to get to Spain mid February for FET. I'm confused, I thought Spain was only letting in Spanish residents by air. I'd be interested to know what you find out! This is just so lousy :-(

I used a Czech clinic and am in a Facebook group. Some people are still travelling there. There are conditions but you are allowed to travel for medical reasons. The problem with moving your blastocyst here is they need someone to travel in person with them and to isolate etc. I am not sure that's an option right now.

Thanks ChloeDE. That's very interesting. I just had an email off the Czech clinic to say their boarders are open. The problem is there are no flights and I am an awful driver🙈. Thanks for the glimmer of hope....

I’m so sorry to hear this. I can’t imagine how you feel. I hope you get it sorted. Why does time seem to fly when you don’t have age on your side? Hugs to you xx

Hi lovely. Im so sorry u going through this. Its the helplessness thats so killing isnt it. Big hug.

I was in europe during xmas and initially when the new covid variant was discovered the country i was in closed all flights to and from uk. Remember the lorries etc. But then they opened everything up in a week and i was able to fly back to uk. The only thing they do require if you fly to most european countries is that you have a negative covid test (i believe done 72 or 48 hours before your flight). So im just hoping Czech Republic will also open up their borders soon. Not much help but sending love x x

Hi Mimisami, nice to hear from you again. Glad you made it home! I have found a forum dedicated to the clinic my embryos are stored at so Im tentatively planning for a February trip but there will be many tricky junctures and 3 covid tests involved.( Czech opened their boarders on the 5th Jan I think for essential medical reasons) Lots of planning to do. X

Hello folks, I thought I would update this thread. Thanks to those that informed me that that it was still possible to travel to tbe Czech Republic for my FET and that there was a FB page especially for those using the same clinic as me there, I have a FET planned for around 19th - 21st Feb. Its a very difficult trip to plan as I wont know when my exact FET transfer date is till after my endometrial scan on Feb 10th. The flights are hit and miss, lots being cancelled and I have to have 3 private covid tests, the first has to be done within 48 hours of flying. Praying all covid tests stay negative. Feeling nervous. We're booking two outward flights on different dates they are cheap enough at the moment, and dont want to leave it till 10th to book as they will likely sky rocket in price. Have started prognova yesterday. Excited but nervous. Hope the trip runs smoothly and obviously that the FET works.
