Pap Test during pregnancy???

I've been reading I'll probably have a Pap smear test with my gynecologist. Have any of you ladies had it during pregnancy??? I'm concerned of it provoking a miscarriage.

I’ve had my pap at 10 weeks and it was all fine. Apparently it’s very routine

Firstly, Congratulations on your pregnancy! Were you spotting around that time? I read you had some scares, but are doing perfectly well now 😊. I've had some spotting and I usually spot and cramp after Pap smear. Therefore, I'm very concerned, but your experience helps to calm me a bit.

Thank you! Yes, I had a bit of a bumpy ride around 12 weeks, definitely kept me on my toes!I had the pap smear at my 10 week appointment and I spotted afterwards for the rest of the day. It was fine the next day. From what I understand, pap smears are very routine but my friend (who also got pregnant through IVF) refused hers because she was uncomfortable about it and they were happy to let it go

Hi, I don’t know if you live in the UK or not, but the NHS website says having a smear during pregnancy will not affect your pregnancy, but they prefer not to do it because I think it can affect results perhaps.

If you search the NHS website, it has more information for you - I hope that helps! All the best!

The tend not to do this during pregnancy in the UK as it can affect the results and wait until after the delivery of the baby. However this may be different where you live.xx

I'm SO happy your twins are doing great! It's blessing. I'll just have to wait and see what the Dr. says next week. Take care of your beautiful twins😊💜💜💜

I was due a test when I was pregnant but was told to wait until after the baby was born. This was with the NHS. I felt more comfortable waiting until afterwards anyway.

Yes I'm due too and would definitely feel better waiting until after the birth.

My midwife told me to do it after I give birth - she said it can irritate the cervix and you are more prone to infections etc while pregnant :)

Thank you, this makes sense. I have my appointment next Wednesday and at least I can try to avoid it by bringing these valid points up.
