Need to loose 6 pounds asap

Hi, i have been trying for months now to get my BMI down to 30, i am nearly there and just have 6 pounds left to go. But these few pounds are not shifting, i have been dieting for months, i run 10k every day and drink a litre of water but nothing is moving these few pounds. This is my last step so I can go and get IVF and at the moment it seems impossible. Any help gratefully received

Hey,

I’m no expert in nutrition and/or fitness but I didn’t want to read and run either! But I did want to say well done for running 10k every day - that’s a very impressive step towards getting into good shape so well done!

I guess it’s perseverance - as well as running, eating a healthy balanced diet with the right foods will also help. I find RWL or Joe Wicks have good diet tips that are sustainable and balanced. Maybe introduce some strength training as well as cardio as well - maybe kettlebells or some form of weights as well as Pilates type training? Good for both body and mind!

If you haven’t already, then you could try reach out to a fitness instructor or nutritionist to advise if you’re in need of some professional tips?

But like I said, I’m no fitness expert or diet adviser and what works for one person doesn’t necessarily for another either. It sounds like you’re so close to reaching your goal which is amazing so just keep going! 🤞🏻

All the best xx

Hi, those last few pounds are always the hardest!

You could try the 5:2 diet or what I do is to have my last meal of the day quite early (16:30/17:00) then I brush my teeth and nothing goes in my mouth until breakfast. And I try to have breakfast no earlier than 8:30 so I’m fasting for a long period of time although most of it I’m sleeping.

You can drink water during this period though.

Good luck!! You’ve done really well and I’m sure you will get to your goal very soon 🤞🏻

I did slimfast went from bmi 34/35 to 26 I lost 42lb never put on any week had 1 shake for breakfast then calorie counted the rest which is 230 lunch 600 dinner then 3 x 100 cal snacks total cals 1360 I did exercise a lot aswel but used to exercise before anyway. I didn’t get offered treatment but I’m currently 18w pregnant. Good luck x

Hey when I went to my first appointment with the clinic my BMI was over but by 2kg. The doctor allowed me to continue but said have to lose the 2kg, like you I have a few pounds to go but all my next appointments are virtual. When is your next appointment? Maybe the doctor would be lenient? Also I have a few friends. Who are PT’s and they speak about how important it is to have rest days and strength training. Maybe have some days off would help? Good luck I know how you feel, I’m going out for a run now lol xx

Hello, congratulations on your weight loss so far. Sometimes when your weight sticks it usually means you need to change things up a bit. I changed a few of my cardio days to weight / strength training and I actually realised I was eating too little calories - so upped my intake with healthy foods and this got my metabolism moving again and the final weight came off.

Good luck xx

Hi, I don't know a lot but thought I would share a few things that worked for me...fasting is not recommended for fertility as it can affect ovulation and the success of fertility treatment...low carb high protein (fish, chicken, eggs, nuts, seeds, avacados, proper whole grains and low red meat) has been recommended and may help you shift those last few pounds, we did a detox by cutting out refund sugar, caffeine and alcohol too which help me shift 10lbs before treatment. Hope this helps and good luck!

I so impressed by the amount you run everyday! Well done! I find higher protein meals and lower carbs helps me to lose weight. Look at keto recipes but not necessarily the whole keto diet xx

Hi 🙋‍♀️ Firstly just to say how amazing you are for all that running - I’ve just downloaded the couch to 5k app in the hope it gets me back up off my bum, not in the same league as you though! Also re weight loss, I follow slimming world and would highly recommend it. It’s not like a diet, you can eat really varied and fabulous food, it’s just a healthy way of living. I’ve found that sometimes when I’ve struggled to lose weight I’ve not been eating enough, maybe you’re suffering from that. Most groups are doing meetings online now due to Covid, but you’ll get fantastic support from your consultant and group. I’ve managed to maintain a healthy weight for a year now which is a record for me! x
