Hi everyone, I miscarried at 8 weeks in mid October and my bleeding stopped after 3 weeks. I have been spotting for the last 10 days. Is this normal? Do people get normal cycles as the clinic expected it to be heavy ? How long does it take to get back to normal generally ?

Only spotting on the first cycle after miscarriage
Hi Prankpr,
I am still awaiting my first period after miscarriage at 7 weeks, I was advised it can alter your cycle both ways either really light/spotting or really heavy. I think it just depends on what your body wants to do, they also said it may take time to go back to regular cycle. So unfortunately a lot of uncertainty, I hope this helps!
Hi, I am so sorry for your loss.
its very normal for your cycles to be a bit wonky after a miscarriage and can actually take up to 6 months to settle but normally do within 3 months. Don't be surprised if your cycle is completely different i.e. longer/shorter, different PMS symptoms etc as this is quite normal too. Unfortunately you can't do anything about it so try not to stress and it will all sort itself out soon xx
Thank you !
Hi Prankypr. So sorry to hear of your miscarriage and I do hope you've had plenty of support. It can easily take up to 3 cycles for your menstrual cycle to return to what is normal for you. If it hasn't by then, I would speak to your GP for further advice. Diane
