HCG bloods at 5 weeks - am I counting the weeks right & should it double?

Hi all,

I received my HCG blood result today, which I had done privately through Medichecks, as my NHS clinic don't do.

I posted the bloods on Monday - which I think is week 5??? Is that right, I get so confused by the dates?!

week 0 - 26th Oct (date of 1st day of period)

week 1 - 2nd Nov

week 2 - 9th Nov

week 3 - 16th Nov (frozen transfer 16th of November)

week 4 - 23rd Nov

week 5 - 30th Nov (posted HCG bloods)

week 6 - 7th Dec

week 7 - 14th Dec (7 week scan booked for 16th Dec)

My result is 4,212

IU/L which seems on track on the scale provided (if I'm on week 5)...

<2.0 Negative

3 Weeks 5.8 - 71.2

4 Weeks 9.5 - 750

5 Weeks 217 - 7,138

6 Weeks 158 - 31795

7+ Weeks > 3,697

I've ordered another test as I think I read on here that HCG level can be very individualized to the woman, but what we need to look for if it doubles. I thought I'd heard there should be a doubling every day, but that doesn't seem right with the scale?

I'm just so pleased that my result looks o.k. to me for now.

Any thoughts appreciated, and hope everyone is doing well x

Your hCG should double to begin with every 48-72 hours so no not every day. As for calculating how far along you are, here is a link to a calculator. You'll just need to calculate the egg collection date as its a frozen embryo transfer so it will be the date of transfer minus the 5 or 3 day old embryo. By my calculations you are 5wk 1 day if it was a 5 day embryo.xx

Fabulous, thank you, that's super helpful. It was a 6 day transfer so I just need to minus off another day. xx
