Hi, my OTD is Wednesday so I just spoke to the clinic to see their process if my tests are still positive then as this is all unknown territory for me! They said they don’t do HCG beta as standard for fresh transfers and just see you next for the scan at 7 weeks. They said I can pay for it and have it done if I like but it’s not normal process for them unless it’s for a frozen transfer. Am I right and should I get it done? As it shows doesn’t it if HCG is high enough/ not having a chemical pregnancy I think?
Am also planning to get my progesterone tested at the same time x

One million percent I would. Its such a relief to see the high numbers. I remember being 15dp5dt and my beta was back within 3 hours to me and was 5400 and i knew instantly that it was more than likely twins but more to the point that it was more than likely a viable pregnancy. Its a pity they dont do it. It will give you such peace to know.
Yes they do a beta always for FETs even if you get a negative test! So it’s odd to me they don’t with fresh. But apparently they do it with FETs as wee test might not show positive as HCG takes longer to show or something with frozens I think they say x
Ok thanks, I will book in for it then. They will do it just not as standard, that’s a good point re twins as I did have a double transfer so maybe it might indicate that? So you get the HCG test on OTD and then am I right in that they do a second HCG 48 hours later? Or just the one on OTD? X
With my clinic (im in Ireland), if the numbers are high, they dont bother repeating. If they are low, they might do a second one just to be sure that they are rising.
I think it really depends on your personality. I've had them done in the past with previous pregnancies, and this time around I decided not to. For me, more information just gives me more to stress and obsess over (is it high enough? is it rising fast enough? etc.) and whatever the result, what happens is not in your control and what will be will be no matter what. I think it can definitely give you reassurance, but I guess same as seeing a positive home test, that reassurance can be short-lived while you wait for the next source of reassurance - the next test or another scan. I was the same about early testing though, I only ever did it once and it made me feel so much worse than just waiting until OTD I never did it again. Only you know what's likely to make you feel best xx
