Once you have done the first one you will see that they are not painful at all!
Some people will say that you ask someone to do it for you, but I prefer being in control of the speed the needle and the liquid comes in, you can slow down or go faster depending of how you feel.
This is how I do it, don't go too close to the belly button or the centre of the belly, try to find pinch of skin with a bit of fat. Keep it pinched while you get the needle trough the skin, and release before putting the liquid in. Then wait a few seconds, and hold the skin while you take the needle out.
It really sounds way more scary than it is. You can also have a bit of ice in the area before to numb the skin, or pinch the skin several times before, like a little massage.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
Honestly the fear of doing them than is much worse than the reality - make sure you pinch a good inch and insert needle perpendicular abs it’s literally over in a second or so
I didn’t trust my partner to do it - he tried the first but dithered so much he stressed me out more!
I was really anxious too, and had my husband do the first couple days, and now I do them all except the IM ones. I did it stepwise. First time I couldn't even look as he did it for me, then I watched him do it, and the third day I did it myself. I always have some video playing in the background so I can concentrate on that rather than the feeling of the needle. Good luck!
I was also a bit anxious about this at first so I numbed my skin beforehand with EMLA cream. It is a topical lidocaine available over the counter in most pharmacies. It works very well and made the injections much less daunting. Have an ice pack ready to go and ice the area immediately after.
I agree with previous posts that it is better to administer yourself so you can control the speed etc. It is really not that bad and you will get the hang of it very quickly!
Thank you ladies. I hope i can manage. My husband is worse then me so i have to try unless i find someone just for the firsts 🙈
I've started injecting yesterday and was terrified of the thought of having to inject myself; however there was nothing to worry about and I couldn't even feel it :)!
Hi, be honest I hate injection too! What I do is, I take it day by day, don’t look at the whole injections you need to do in the whole cycle, I try to remember where I inject and next day I inject myself in a different area.
I used to play relaxing music for myself in my first cycle. Maybe that could help you.
Good luck.xx
Hi, I started my injections last week. I was really worried but they aren't as bad as I thought, phew. My nurse suggested trying different areas to see where it hurts the least, eg each leg and belly. The belly has less nerves so might be less painful. Hope it goes well.
Thank you so much A friend nurse done it my first (i know i am not supposed to cuz of lockdown but i really need it)
And from second i have done 2 days already and its not bad at all! It was just in my Head
