Ivf injections and work

Hi everyone,

About to start ivf injections any day now...just waiting to come on my period after being on norethisterone.

Just wanted to know if people just went about their business as normal when on injections or did they take time off work?

Ive got quite a stressful job and dont want to ruin my chances so thought it was worth asking what other people did?

Thanks xxx

I’m the same as you with a stressful job. I decided to take annual leave after transfer so that I didn’t spend that time stressed. I worked as usual during injections and as far as I’m aware that didn’t impact my progress. I got 11 eggs which I was quite happy with.

Thanks Lynnr54! Fingers crossed i have the same luck! How was egg retrieval and transfer? I get really nervous before smears so I'm going to have to seriously toughen up haha! Xx

Good luck with it all! I have a stressful job but it varies in intensity. I didn’t take time off during stims but I did plan ivf rounds for my quieter times as I would have found it very difficult taking so much time out for injections and scans during times my work is really full on. That was just my preference though. The Scottish politician Ruth Davidson managed to get pregnant successfully with IVF whilst working, so it must still work even if you have a stressful job! Good luck with it all xxx

Hi there LouBoo,

As I think you have seen I am now amazingly 17 weeks pregnant at the age of 39, following our second round of ivf. I think the doctors really learnt from my first round and I had a much better second round thankfully! Wishing you all the best with it all xxx
