Hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you had double PGS tested transferred, we had two failed transfer under our belt ( one fresh embryo transfer and one frozen) and really wanted to know if any of you had better luck with two. I spoke to our embryologist and he said if you don’t have a medical condition although our recommendation is one, we are happy to transfer two! So I’m so tempted!

Hi Linda, my clinic only advise to transfer one, I’m sure if you want to transfer two, you could but it’s better to take the expert advise I guess.

My clinic wouldn’t allow a double transfer of PGS tested embryos or embryos that were top grade ie 5aa
I transferred 2 untested embryos and am currently 24 weeks with twins. My clinic only agreed as I think they felt the odds of both sticking In my case were relatively low (I’ve had several miscarriages previously as well as this being my 4th transfer and also I PGS tested on the previous cycle and didn’t get any normal embryos) Plus we didn’t have the money for individual transfers- we’d spent £35k by that point
I think people going through infertility and IVF treatment often think twins is the dream.
Not going to lie twin pregnancy is bloody hard. I am/was relatively fit and healthy and am 37 - I’ve practically been on sofa rest since 18 weeks and can’t walk for more than 200 yards or so without the bump/pelvis/hips hurting and having to lie on the sofa/bed for rest of the day. My resting heart rate was around 67 and is now pushing 90. I know someone whose heart gave out due to carrying twins. One of my twins is also measuring small likely because my body can’t get her enough nutrients.
Don’t do it if you also can’t financially afford to raise twins - I have my twins names down for Childminder’s already and the cost is more than our mortgage per month
Obviously I don’t regret my twins for a second and am excited to bring them home but the reality of how punishing it is physically financially and mentally is something I’d advise making sure you are capable of dealing with before doing a double transfer

I know there is no guaranty In life but after three miscarriages and two failed IVF, I just want to give myself better chance.

I had 2 failed transfers as well, fresh and frozen, from my previous cycle. My consultant advise me to do an endometrial scratch, as it seems to help with implantation in women who have suffered 2 or more failed good quality embryo transfers. I am not 6 weeks pregnant. Have you considered this option?

No, my clinic doesn't really recommend PGS testing as it doesn't seem to help that much 🤷🏻♀️ different clinics different advice... Just to confuse us even more!

Thank you love! I asked my clinic about having two put in because I was so worried it would fail again and they advised against it because the quality of my embryos is good. I was happy to have two and get pregnant with twins but they did say that it can be dangerous for mum and babies. I hope everything goes ok with your transfer!!! Xx
I know clinic are usually against it.. we will see what will happen with mine, and with the lockdown I even don’t know if it’s going to happen... Xx

My friend has transferred two which resulted in one baby. The reason clinics suggesting one is sometimes complication with one of the embryos. Is hard decision ...Even if I had two normal I was tempting... All the bestXx
Clinics normally don’t recommend transferring more than one with PGS tested embryos as the pregnancy rates are higher so the risk of twins is significantly higher. Were your previous transfers PGS tested embryos?x
Hi Linda, I’ve recently had a double transfer but not pgs tested, I understand my clinic have the same protocol in only transferring 1 if pgs testing has took place however with unsuccessful attempts you’ve had in the past I’d be inclined to consider the two if they’re happy to do so, putting 2 in has increased my chances of success by 8% and for the risk of carrying twins my mode of thinking is 2 is better than none,,,,,,, I wish you all the best in the decision you make, there’s no right or wrong in this game, just go with your gut xx

That’s the thing! My gut is telling me two! But I haven’t talk to anyone whom has transferred two PGS tested.. so maybe this is just my silly idea...

We’re the embryos from previous ivf treatments tested? If so then I think you’d have a fairly valid case to have a double transfer as the issue of implantation lays with your uterus as appose to the embryo,,,,,,,, x

I am 3dpt of TWO 5d PGS tested blasts (one boy and one girl). It was a really difficult decision and my clinic discouraged it, but I have had a miscarriage from FET and wanted the best chance. My gut tells me that implanting two will result in one live birth....it is an overwhelming decision. I read a ton of papers (and my husband is a doctor) but ultimately the decision came down to my gut feeling. I just turned 40 and that is the magic age that my clinic will transfer two.

I had two failed fets. It was heartbreaking. My dr finally agreed to transfer two and I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant 🤗 with two babies.

My last transfer was 2 embryos. This was after 3 failed transfers and taking into account my age which is close to 40. I am now 12 weeks pregnant with one baby. I do know 2 couples that had twins after transferring 2 which they prefer not to risk. I think following the advice of the consultant is probably safest. If they are telling you to stick to one there will be a reason. Very best of luck. Xx

I had two chemicals with two double transfers of untested embryos. I did a single top grade pgs tested transfer and it took. The clinic won’t transfer two pgs tested embryos because the risk of twin pregnancy is too high. I mean it all sounds amazing about having twins but the pregnancies are often a lot harder etc. I would just go with one. But that’s obviously just my opinion. Wishing you the best xxx
