Me and my gf got told 2 weeks ago we had a chemical pregnancy. Hcg level first was 21. A week later had to go back for bloods to check on it. Second time they were 91. Blood test today and they are 972!! Scan on Thursday to see if there is a sac. Are we pregnant or not? We are so confused 😐

Oh that’s quite a turn of events! How cool! Definitely pregnant with HCG of 972 but need to know how many days post transfer are you? It could be good or it could be a bit low but plenty of positive stories of lower betas turning into a viable pregnancy. Scan will confirm, fingers crossed!!! Think positive!!!

Hi Lauren - the two of you are definitely pregnant right now, but the question is whether the pregnancy is viable and will progress, or whether there are problems with the embryo that mean unfortunately it can't make a healthy baby. The low HCG could be a sign of something wrong, but there are some cases in which women with low HCG do have a healthy pregnancy (I read about plenty of them when I was in a similar situation, although unfortunately in my case the foetus was not viable and was growing much too slowly and it ended up in a miscarriage at 8 weeks). Hopefully the scan on Thursday will give you some answers as to what's going on. Really sorry you are both going through this stressful situation xx

Arghh this is so stressful 🙈 thank you for advice. We just thought that if chemical pregnancy occurs the hcg goes down and not up?

Yes, what I had was not a chemical pregnancy, there was a heartbeat, but it was a pregnancy that didn't progress (at 8 weeks the foetus was measuring right for 6 weeks and then miscarried). So my HCG was going up but was lower than it would be in a viable pregnancy. I really hope that's not what's happening to you but honestly I think it's better to be aware of the possibility just in case. So sorry you're both having to deal with this, take very good care of yourselves

Awww I’m so sorry to hear that that’s so sad. Fingers crossed it progresses. It’s taking its toll on us. One min we are not pregnant then the next we are again it’s draining we just want a correct answer
