Hi, just wondering if anyone was prescribed norethisterone for 10 days from day 14-25 the month before ivf? Was this regardless of how long your cycle is or when you ovulate?
Just reposting this in a more straightforward way :), thanks for your help, I did a short cycle last time so unfamiliar with this medication

Hi. I’ve just done a short cycle starting with norethisterone for 10 days. My periods are every 30 days and was told I could start taking it anytime between days 16-23 (my drugs ended up arriving on day 20). I didn’t have a scan or have to take a test to make sure I’d ovulated first though. Not sure if this helps at all. Good luck! x
Thank you very much! I guess it sounds like it might have been sort of timed to start after your ovulation but it doesn't sound like they were checking or too worried!
Hi, yes I was on norethisterone for the same amount of days. I don’t think they really look at when you ovulate as they’re thinking about when you get your bleed to start ivf treatments.
Ah thank you. I had told them my cycle is usually 26 or 27 days and I was concerned they timed the start based on that but of course this month I didn't ovulate on day 12 or 13 and was to start the tablets yesterday when I finally got a positive ovulation strip and some ovulation pains so I was concerned that I'm starting progesterone meds while my body is trying to ovulate and whether I might end up with a cyst from the unreleased follicle. But maybe it will be fine and it's just the usual pre ivf catastrophic worries!
Long cycle and 12 days of norethisterone pre IVF here. It is just used to time your cycle pre stimming (not to have too many people in the clinic on the same days). Some clinics use BCP instead.
Thanks so much, as I've replied above I had the clinic that my cycle is usually 26 or 27 days and I was concerned they timed the start based on that but of course this month I didn't ovulate on day 12 or 13 and was to start the tablets yesterday when I finally got a positive ovulation strip and some ovulation pains so I was concerned that I'm starting progesterone meds while my body is trying to ovulate and whether I might end up with a cyst from the unreleased follicle. But maybe it will be fine and it's just the usual pre ivf catastrophic worries!
