Bleeding at 11 weeks

So am now 11 weeks 1 day pregnant and this morning had morning sickness for the first time. Up to now been very nauseated but this is first time been physically sick. So practically at same time as being sick I had a bleed. Not a big bleed but was enough to worry me.

Has anyone experienced similar?

(On a positive note we had a private scan on Tuesday and everything was fine)

I am sorry you are experiencing this. I had spotting with my daughter between 6-14 weeks & this pregnancy still spotting ( I’m 15 weeks Saturday ) I also bled heavily with my son at 7 weeks. For me it seems to be my norm 😱 the difference between my successful pregnancies vs chemical pregnancy was I had severe abdominal cramping & the bleeding got heavier & didn’t just ease off.

I think if it was only a bit & you aren’t in pain that sounds good- midwives always told me unless I was in severe abdominal pain & heavy bleeding like enough to fill a pad in a hour or less not to worry & that lots of women will spot in early pregnancy but have healthy babies.

You are within your rights to request a scan at the early pregnancy assessment unit if that would put your mind at ease. xxx

Thanks so much. This is really reassuring. I am basically having light blood when wiping. Was just concerned as first time have bled during this pregnancy. Anyway decided to monitor it today and if gets worse I will phone for a scan.

I’d ring the epu regardless if you’ve just had a scan a few days ago I had no bleeding til 12w my pregnancy was blighted no cramping just light bleeding for a few day. Just to put your mind to test as it could be nothing to worry about aswel.

Hi, thanks I did speak to them they reassured me that if not heavy they are not too concerned. However if it gets worse am to call them again. Thankfully since this morning it has gone away. Hopefully was a one-off 🤞🏼

Oh its so stressful isn't it?! Could it have been the retching to be sick that's caused you to have a small bleed?! I would think due to your scan being ok a few days ago, its not heavy and you aren't in pain are all good signs but maybe checking in with EPU for some reassurance!xx

Hi Cinderella, yes am kinda hopeful that was the reason. It continued as light spotting all morning then nothing rest of day. I spoke to the EPU who are not overly concerned. It’s tough though, we never stop worrying do we.

Hope all is well with you and you are continuing to have a very healthy pregnancy 😘

Good I'm glad to hear all has settled down. The worrying actually never stops, you're right!🙄

Everything seems to be ok, getting a few migraines but hoping that's a good sign! I know the scan went well but hope you had a nice day for your hubby's birthday!!xx

I had a low lying placenta near the cervix is my last pregnancy and everytime I strained during a bowel movement I would bleed. I would think it's the pressure from being sick that's caused the bleed and would imagine it would ease off now xx

Hi that is reassuring thanks, as I too seem to have light spotting after a bowel movement. So hoping today was just as you said the pressure from being sick. I continued to have spot bleeding all morning then nothing rest of the day. 🤞🏼

That’s what my OB told me when I had my first scan with him. He explained to me that he looks at the position of placenta and also how the cervix is sealed to judge whether bleeding is concerning, if there is any. At my 9th week, he told me I’m unlikely to bleed. So, if I do, I should call him. Since you just had your scan, you should confirm with your doctor the thickness of your cervix seal and also the position of your placenta. Hope this helps. Best wishes to you!

Thank you that’s so helpful. As I had a private scan it wasn’t an actual DR. It was a ‘babyscanning Company’.

I now have the long wait until 20th for my actual 12 week scan. ( as am almost 13 weeks by then we decided to pay for a private one for peace of mind).

Fortunately only had that one small bleed so 🤞🏼it was a one-off.

How are you keeping ? Sounds like all us going well 😘

I do hope you are sleeping better, I find am not getting up through night to pee as often and managing 7-8hrs. Feel I really need it x

Wow, you’re 11 weeks already! With my first, I had a substantial bleed out of the blue at 10 weeks. Got checked and nothing the matter. She’s now a healthy toddler! Hope it just stays with this and all goes well!

I know it is flying in, just so anxious this time due to last pregnancy ending in MC. My 12 weeks scan isn’t until 20th October so on Tuesday we had a private scan. Everything was wonderful and clearly seen our babe moving around. Heartbeat loud and strong .

So this morning was in a bit of a panic however am now convinced was due to the pressure of being sick.

Thank you for your comforting words 😘

Hope you're feeling ok now. That was my immediate thought like other people have said, the strain of being sick has caused it. X

Thank you yes am feeling a whole lot better. Putting it down to the strain of being sick & still got my positive head on 😘👍

Hey 👋 I’m having the same, I had my 12 week scan last week and baby looked amazing 😍 jiggling around with a beautiful heartbeat 💓 then yesterday I started with brown spotting and aches and pains 😩 so stressful and I couldn’t sleep at all last night. I’m being referred for another scan in the morning.

Fingers crossed for us both and I know how scary it is but from everything I’ve read it’s very common apparently so hopefully everything will be fine Xx

Hi 👋 Oh no sorry to hear this, hopefully the scan will put your mind at rest. As I just had light bleeding that one day I was advised just to monitor it. I have another week to go until my 12 week scan 🙈

Am sure you will be fine please keep me updated 😘

Hey I spotted too at 14 weeks

So it’s ok . Just make sure they check your progesterone levels as sometimes that can be one of the reasons . Other than that it happens to many . Just be calm and enjoy . I know it’s hard. I did t enjoy much of mine as I was too anxious.

Hi, I understand can be fairly common just a worry though isn’t it when you see the blood.

Thankfully nothing since that one morning last week 😀

My clinic /Dr have never checked my progesterone levels despite my requests after learning through here’s it’s common practice. They insist I only need my progesterone pessaries until week 8 of pregnancy.... Then my body takes over. (Week 8 if fresh /week 12 if frozen is their policy).

I kept going until week 10 though as had enough. After that bleed I actually did use another couple that day as still have a few. Am 12 weeks on Wednesday x

My clinic also said to stop at 12 but I continued till 28 weeks on a low dose twice a day for peace of my mind . And once I let my consultant know that I continued . He didn’t agree with me but said there was no harm . So I continued.

12 seems reasonable but 8.... I was freaking out that didn’t seem long enough. If only they checked my levels but spoken to 3 doctors now who insist don’t need it but said keep going 12 weeks if I want but have to stop after that.
