Just wondering how quickly you could go from egg collection to a frozen embryo transfer?
I’d need to do freeze all anyway due to the risk of OHSS as I have PCOS and thinking about doing PGS testing this time.
We have a few embryos frozen already but they’re lower grade than the others that haven’t worked / miscarried, plus we’d love more than one child anyway (currently don’t have any) so thinking of banking a few more before testing and transferring again.
Thanks so much in advance! You guys are always so helpful xxx

Thanks so much Emilie, did you feel well and healthy only 1 month afterwards? I had to wait 4 months between collection and transfer last time but I think this was more to do with NHS wait times xxx
My clinic thought so, and so did i. I have to say that i went for a holiday in the sun (back home) and i think it might have helped I think a month is enough to evacuate everything and to reset, but most important is to listen to your body.
When I asked my clinic about this, they said to wait a cycle to let the PGS results back. While in theory I could have started the FET meds with the bleed right after EC, there would be a risk of none coming back normal, and so I’d be on meds needlessly. Best of luck with your decision xx
Thanks Peony! Ah didn’t realise they could start you on FET meds so quickly. I see what you mean about being on meds needlessly. Have you had the PGS results back yet? Everything crossed for your transfer xxx
Ironically, that cycle was a complete disaster and resulted in nothing making it to blastocyst 🤦♀️ We did another round in August, but the timing wasn’t right for PGS (our clinic only do PGS on weekdays due to staff availability) as I’d responded more quickly than expected on that particular round and we made the call with our consultant to go to EC rather than push 2 more days to allow for PGS, since my worst results were when I had more days of stims. So we ended up doing a fresh transfer, which stuck. We had our early scan at 7+1 last week and everything measuring exactly as it should, and had a heartbeat, so we’re just waiting to hopefully make it through the next few weeks. It’s nerve wracking not knowing if it is genetically normal or not but just grateful that everything is looking on track for now xx
I had to have a freeze all as risk of OHSS which I only found out on egg collection day. I was told that I would hopefully have a bleed within 2 weeks after egg collection and then would need a scan after that bleed to make sure everything has gone back to normal and then could start with transfer on my next cycle so would be about 6 weeks in total. I have not had a frozen transfer before so not sure how it all works now, but i had egg collection on 14th September, i had a bleed a week later and have got a scan tomorrow to check everything so I will know more tomorrow for timings for transfer.
Yes I think that's what they said, I am going to ask lots of questions tomorrow so should know exactly what the plan is. I'll let you know what they say timing wise.
Scan went well thank you and everything has gone back to normal and looks ok. So was told i can start on my next cycle. Still unsure what hapens and when for an FET waiting to hear from the nurses. But just so pleased that can start next cycle.
I did my egg collection in mid Nov and then my transfer in mid Jan so I had my bleed after egg collection and then started my FET on my next period (Dec) xx
Hi, I had my egg collection on 2nd Sept and also had to freeze all due to risk of OHSS. I’m now waiting for my period to start. I’m having a natural FET so will have to take ovulation tests from day 10 until I get a smiley face, then 6 days later will have a transfer. Are you with the NHS? Are you allowed to do another egg collection before you use up all frozen embryos? x
Hi Nicki, ok so it's fairly quick from collection to FET which is good. Last time I had to wait 4 months but that's when I was with the NHS and the waiting lists were longer. We've gone private now. No, I don't think we'd be able to do another egg collection whilst we had frosties on the NHS. So much luck for your upcoming transfer xxx
When I had my egg collection all the embryos were frozen due to OHSS and PCOS. This was with the NHS and therefore I had to wait 3 months before I could have the embryo transfer. I think usually with NHS they make you roughly wait around this time. I’m sure with private it’s a lot faster maybe around a month wait so you can have one period cycle finished.
Thanks lovely. My last cycle on NHS was similar and I waited 3/4 months, they said it was necessary but I think it was actually their wait times. I’m private now so hoping for quicker turnaround. I hope you are doing well and pregnancy going well xxx
Hi, my egg collection was 10th August and was told on the day it would be a freeze all. Was gutted until ended up in hospital for 10 days and saw what all the fuss was about. Had withdrawal bleed 2 weeks later and currently on CD38 and waiting for AF to come so I can start natural FET. Seems my ovaries are still sleeping after their ordeal 🤦🏼♀️. So basically even with moderate-severe OHSS it’s possible from next cycle (when it decides to rock up). I’m NHS but think it just depends on clinics protocols.
Thanks so much Goldie. I remember your post from hospital now, it sounded horrible. I hope you’re doing ok now? It’s good you haven’t had to wait too long to get going again. All the best with your FET, so fab you have so much blasts frozen waiting ☺️ xx
