Have their been any ivf success of women over 40 who smoke 3 cigarettes a day. I call it light smoking but i know i should stop. Last night i went out and drank 2 shots of jameson as it was the night before lockdown (where i am) and 5 cigarettes really upsrt now and regretting it now do you think it would affect the embryo/s emplanting honestly? The embryos were put in 3 days ago. Am so scared i fucked it up. Can anyone make me feel better. By the way i didnt smoke 1 cigarette on last embryo transfer and still got a negative result so i kinda rebelled a bit. Anyone relate to this?

Any ivf over 40s light smokers got success?
I'm not a smoker, but I just wanted to say don't beat yourself up. We are all just doing our best, and ivf plus lockdown is a horrible combination. Wishing you luck for test day x
I don’t drink and don’t smoke either but I would say if you smoke few cigarettes and had alcohol already after embryo transfer so you can’t change it now but probably be bit hard on yourself and avoid cigarettes and alcohol 🍺😊, good luck
Hey lovely.
For what it’s worth I didn’t smoke when going through ivf but after our last failed round at the start of lockdown I started drinking & I smoked when I drank (probably about 3 times a week but definitely more than 5 at a time). Was probably drinking & smoking more than I ever really have (lockdown right 🤷♀️) and fell pregnant naturally & am currently 21 weeks with that pregnancy. Obviously I haven’t touched a drop or a single cigarette since I found out I was pregnant but what I am saying is, when I’ve been super healthy for months Neither the natural pregnancies or ivf have worked. If it’s going to implant it will implant.
I would say that it’s best not to smoke because apart from the health reasons which we obviously all know about, as you’re finding out living with the guilt is the hardest thing, but I doubt a few fags will make any difference.
Try not to beat yourself up. This is such a horrible, stressful process we’re all just doing our best. You’re fine. Just chalk it up to experience and remember how bad you feel right now so you don’t do it again! Hopefully you’ll get your BFP soon xx
Anazing great advice thank yiu! Ur so right . I heard people gotvpreg naturally but i just wondered if any ovf people got pregnant and smoked after embryo transfer. But ur right its all aboit what u can live with. Guilt or not. My prob is 3 times i did ivf i didbt drink a drop of alcohol or smoke 1 and it failed so this time i rebelled a bit thinking this is bullshit. Can a cigarette or 2 shots of whiskey realy dislodge an embryo thats implanting? Thats my point u get me . Xxx
Hello my lovely!
I just wanted to say don’t beat yourself up. This Covid situation is an extremely anxious time for most people... never mind if you are battling with infertility issues too!! We all have wobbles from time to time (whether it’s with alcohol /cigarettes, panic attacks, having an awful argument with a loved one )... but the main thing is to not be hard on yourself, pick yourself up, and carry on going forward. I have been doing a lot of mindfulness recently to help me through this extremely difficult time... and one big thing I have learnt is...... the past is usually full of regret, the future is usually full of worry, so being in the present is the most peaceful place & where you have most control!!
Hope that’s helpful....?!? And heaps of luck with your next steps xxx
Big hugs XX
