Very Low AMH

Hi,

We have been trying to conceive for 2.5 years. I have had a laproscopy and all came back normal. My periods are irregular although seem to have settled over the last few months. Last year all my hormone blood test were either too high or to low, but also have now gone back to what they should be. I have had 2 rounds on Chlomiphine, the first seemed to work and the second didn't although I think this was due too when I took it. I had to stop Chlomid due to lock down as needed more scans. At the first appointment with the consultant after lock down the consultant sent me fir an AMH test. Finally got the result over the phone last week and was told that my AMH was below 1 so low that they could not give me an actual reading and that I would not be able to conceive through IVF with my own eggs and tgat things would only fund ivf with donated eggs. I am 36, we are devastated and looking for some hope. Is there any hope fir private IVF with our own eggs?

A good friend of mine had a very very low AMH, less then 1. They did 3 rounds of IVF privately and the third round was successful. They got one egg and had a day 3 transfer of a poor quality embryo but she’s now 4!

To get a sibling they used donor eggs and now have a gorgeous baby boy. She says using donor eggs was the best decision they ever made.

So there is hope even if it’s a very low chance. I guess you may want to have a few goes to know if it’s at all possible. But definitely look into donor eggs too as a plan B.

Also, maybe research “Mild IVF” or “Natural IVF” as these techniques are said to be best for women with very low AMH.

Also look at taking supplements for very low AMH that might help improve egg quality.

Best of luck x

I’m so sorry, it’s so hard this process especially when you get news like this.

I was the same age when we discovered my AMH was under 1 (it was 0.9), like you I was devastated and thought I’d never be able to have another baby.

Two rounds of (private) ivf later and only one surviving embryo in total later and we have a 5 month old girl.

Please don’t lose hope, I know it’s hard, but it is possible- you just need one good egg...

Feel free to drop me a messsge .

Xx

I'm sorry to hear this, I'm in the same boat! Following for support. Good luck and take good care of yourself 💖

I am sorry the news were not positive. I have come across a few stories of women who were in same shoes and got pregnant via IVF. I would recommend contacting clinics abroad who have experience in treating patients at advanced age who have low AMH. IVF clinics in Spain, Cyprus and Poland might offer IVF combining with other procedures such as PGS NGS, RPR to boost egg quality. Recommending IVF DE is the easiest way for clinics, and most of them follow this route. However, depending on your individual situation some clinics might do their best to get success via IVF OE. Good luck

Hello lovely, I’ve been through the devastation of coming to term with low AMH (feel free to look at my profile). After several attempts with my own eggs I had to admit defeat & moved to donor. I’m now 17 weeks pregnant & due a little boy in April. Moving to donor was the toughest decision I’ve ever made. My age was against me, I was already in perimenopause, we didn’t have endless cash for throwing at trying with my own eggs, even if we were successful with my eggs, the chances of being able to have a 2nd was even slimmer & donor gave us the best chance of being able to create a sibling. This was my thinking. Though I am glad we did try with my eggs. I’d I would advise you to at least give it a try if you are able too. In the end I had to accept the quality of my eggs was so poor despite all the supplements I took it didn’t improve. I’m happy to chat with you privately if you want to message me. Big hugs. Xx

Hey. I’m new on this forum. Lottie I feel your pain... I got the call from the (NHS) consultant yesterday afternoon that my AMH test came in at a mere 0.6. FSH was 16 and AFC was 5. I have just turned 36 btw. I feel completely crushed, this hurts more than our miscarriage (many years ago)... because now if feels like the sentence has been given and that there is no potential. The NHS have written me off... no IVF support due to my results. Family are being positive and hopeful, but all I see is comments of no hope, failed attempts and a lost cause. Came here looking for some hope and insights... and some positivity. I can’t offer any advice, but I know how isolating this feels, so just wanted to reach out and find some fellow low-AMHers so we can support each other along.Sending luck and wishes for you x

Low AMH is not the end of the road if all else is OK. Meaning sperm and your so-called plumbing. I got pregnant twice naturally with AMH of 0.5 and 0.16. Alternatively, many ladies did mild or natural IVF with embryo banking cycles and it worked. Just keep in mind that low AMH doesn't mean bad quality of eggs and in this game, it's all about quality over quantity.

You know I was devastated when I found out about my low AMH and I thought it was over. I came across a forum done by low AMH ladies and they had all these stories of success with IUI or natural IVF multicycles and that kept me going and trying. Everyone has different struggles, some women get 30 eggs per cycle and end up with no usable embryos. We may only get 1 or 2, so it takes few go arounds. Somehow I managed to catch 2 good eggs with my minimal egg reserve, so who is to say it can't happen to you!
