Anyone remember how long it took to get NHS IVF funding approved?
I’ve had my initial consultation now with the fertility clinic and the doc said she was going to apply for funding on my behalf. Great that we have the ball rolling now but just wondering how long I can expect for it to get approved (fingers crossed we meet the criteria and it does 🤞)
Thanks x

Hey. I dont know the exact process but if there is no waiting list at the clinic i was told to start the next cycle. So i assume they have the ball rolling quickly. Hope this helps x
Thanks for your reply. That’s really quick If it’s the next cycle. My clinic mentioned the wait times weren’t very long at all currently so hopefully it’s the same for me x
It didn’t take long for our funding to be approved about 3 weeks but after that there is lot of paperwork - consent forms etc. And we both had to go for HIV blood tests as hadn’t had them yet and had to be done before started treatment. From our first consultation took about 2-3 months now have medication waiting to start my cycle. Might be different elsewhere with Waiting times to schedule appointments etc. But I noticed this doesn’t take as long as it did to get to this point if that makes sense! I don’t think you have anything to worry about with making criteria (fingers crossed) as think they would have mentioned it by now? Good luck! X
Thanks that’s really helpful. Yeh I’m expecting a lot of paperwork and more blood tests.. but 2-3 months from first consultation isn’t bad at all. Good luck with your cycle!
Re criteria the doctor said we should be fine but I’m just concerned as I have low amh and we’ve also previously had 2 private cycles. It’s just the unknown and not knowing which I’m not very good at! Need to be in control - not very conducive to IVF 😂
