CCG Funding approval - timescales

Hi Ladies

Got the good news yesterday that me and my OH will be referred for IVF as we meet the criteria for our local CCG (South East London)

We now have to wait for the funding to be approved - can anyone shed any light on their own wait times? The doc said I do not need to fill out any paperwork, they will submit this for us

Hi,

For us the doctor told that the funding will be automatically approved if you fulfill all criteria. So, once your consultant fills in the forms they directly send you these for signature and also you need to select your ivf clinic from the list they provide. Once they receive the signed form from you they forward this to your chosen clinic and thdy will contact you. My Ivf clinic contacted me within a week. So, you need to chase your consultant to receive the forms. After this its very quick.Also i live in Buckinghamshire.

Hi, for us it took a few weeks to get the referral after the papers were submitted. Then we had the clinic options come through on my NHS app to make our initial appointment. Each clinic showed on the app the average time from first consultation to start of treatment one of them was over a year! As we had already had private treatment with a clinic we selected them and didn't have to wait long to start treatment that may of been because we already a treatment plan in place. Good luck

I had assumed I wouldn't get a choice on clinic as I'd been referred to a specialist clinic already at the local hospital - but that's good to consider, thanks

are you in Southwark? I was actually in Lambeth but the hospital I went to was in Southwark. I was referred by the GP and before I could start ivf we both had to go through a lot of tests first. From being referred I was seen quickly but the time from starting at the clinic to Ivf was 1 year. If you’ve actually been approved for ivf the clinic I assume should contact you. As ours was a decision on the day and then just a formality to book in with the clinic and start when we were ready

No I'm in Bexley borough.

I had all the initial tests, and was then referred by GP to NHS IVF clinic, where we also had semen analysis and AMH levels checked. Due to 2 x low sperm count results we have been told we have met all the criteria for IVF so now just waiting for the funding to be approved.

Hoping it's not too long now

ahh right no it shouldn’t be long now. Strange they haven’t done any tests on you, my partner had a semen issue as well. They made me go through a hycosy and other checks (not just AMH) before they’d let us do ivf. They also said my partner was borderline which is why it took so long, as he had to do exercise and take supplements to try and increase sperm count. Other things went down while this went up and since it was borderline after a year of trying we were accepted.

Oh yes sorry, I've had all the tests - all my bloods, scans and AMH levels tested. I think the doc just thought as my OHs count was low on both tests 3 months apart (9m and 7m) and due to my age (almost 39) IVF is the best option. Good to hear it shouldn't be long, it's such a waiting game isn't it!

oh great! I was also 39 when doing ivf so believe me at 38 I was a bit disheartened when we had to wait a year to see if we could have funding, but Yey for you! And I’d like to point out age is somewhat just a number as I had great AMH and a good amount of eggs and my OH being 8 years younger didn’t have perfect sperm and I’m now 41 with a healthy 4.5 month old and though ivf so 🙌 Yey for you it’s time to do it! And yep it shouldn’t take long now especially when they know your age they should be pushing you forward.

As an update for anyone reading this thread - due to my age (I assume, 39 now) we got our first appointment at the ACU in 6 weeks from referral. Funding was then approved within one week of this from SE London CCG so we are now awaiting second appointment next week to discuss plans, sign consent forms etc.
