Finally got my PGS results...beat the odds!

Well, what a day! After lots of unanswered emails and calls to my clinic since Friday, I finally received the results. 3 Euploid Embryos - normal, out of 9. (the clinic had been sitting on the results for 11 days while I was stressing not knowing)

I am really pleased with this and very surprised. I was told that 90% of my eggs would be abnormal due to my age. Given that I gave them 9 embryos (all of either FH or FHB development) and 3 were normal, thats 1/3 or 33%.

The next step for me will be to get a consultant in my city so that I can be monitored after I transfer and egg at a time in the clinic in Czech Republic. What things should be checked after transfer? Progesterone levels? Anything else? I think I will opt for embryo glue and low dose Asprin.

Not going to rush into transferring untill I feel confident I have support in place in the UK. What do you all think?

Wow excellent news about the embryos 👍

Sounds like a good plan. When you find the consultant they will be able to run through things with you. Maybe they will suggest other tests that might be useful. When you have the next transfer you will certainly need at least 1 scan beforehand to check the uterus lining then you will need to time your travel for the transfer. My consultant was able to give me a list of prices for the likely blood teats and meds we would need so it would be worth asking for that at your first appointment, so you know how much the costs will be.

Good luck, keep us updated 🍀

Thanks Baypony. I had my scans privately here before IVF so have an idea of price. But yes, not sure what meds I should have this time. Will keep you posted x

Wonderful news! I am having my next round tested too. So worried- we have fragmentation issues too! May I be very rude and ask age. I am 40 and I think l may not even get one! Check thyroid levels too. Can do do that ERA test so they can work out your transfer window? Those are things I am considering if we get any embryos:). Best of luck

Hello leo1980.

Never heard of ERA test. Whats that? And yes, need to see when my last thyroid test was. I am 42. Sorry to hear you have fragmentation issues... What does that mean?

I was expecting 1 or no normal embryos based on what the clinic pigeon holed me into for my age bracket. So pleased I gave IVFwith my own eggs another go. Good luck!

Hi! The girls will correct me if I am wrong but I think the ERA test sort of pin points your implantation window. For thyroid levels need to be 2.5 or under fir conception so defo worth checking. Fragmentation is when tjr DNA in the sperm is broken. I support or corrupt! I bet you are so relieved! Pleased for you. And wishing you all the best. Do the general immunity testing too . I am going to do the killer one and the ERA if I get any normal embryos:).

That is great news! I was also wondering what age you are? I'm 41 and just in 11 days into my down regging but my plan is also to go for PGS testing with whatever I can this round. I didnt do it the last round as I was worried about having to discard all of the embryos. As it turned out I only produced one embryo out of 10 mature eggs so hoping for a better outcome this time. Your news is very encouraging.

Good luck with everything xx

Hello Starsoutside.

Thanks for replying.

I am 42. Im glad you find my strory encouraging. I think that's why we all share here, to keep eachothers spirits up. There is hope for you.

I feel somewhat reassured that I went through with PGS. My other 6 abnormal embros were discarded. It sounds a lot but if they were never destined to develop inside me then....

I hope you have a better egg collection this time round. Lots of luck.

Great news! That gives me hope. I am 41 and about to start another fresh cycle to batch embryos for PGS testing. I have three in the freezer already but hoping for more from this cycle. I intend to do the ERA test and after getting thyroid antibody results that were a little high I believe my consultant wants to do something about that before transfer (fingers crossed I get to transfer) but not sure what that will be yet.

Good luck with the next stages xx

Hi Starsoutside

Thanks for your reply and I am interested to read about the tests you are having - ERA and thyroid. Please let me know how you get on. I hope you get to transfer too. X

Hi Starsoutside can I ask what your consultant did about the thyroid antibodies pls? X

HI queen crab, unfortunately we never got to transfer so never found out what they intended to do. Taking a break from treatment at the moment and gone gluten free om advise of a nutritionist to see if that helps my thyroid be more stable. It is hard though but will shortly be testing my thyroid levels so fingers crossed it is worth it! x

That’s a sensible idea. I should probably do similar tbh. Pls let me know if you get better results with cutting gluten out. Sorry you didn’t get to transfer. IVF is grueling and heartbreaking x

Thanks. It is so difficult emotionally. We are on a really strict diet before potentially one last round of IVF and going gluten free is part of it. I do feel better since I started it with more energy and fewer mood swings so I am hoping it is all helping. Good luck to you with everything x

I absolutely would get the embryo glue as well who knows if it helped my little bean implant but every little helps 😘

Please keep me updated x

That sounds like excellent news!Your case seems similar to mine (same age, naturally conceived child, miscarriage, failed transfers).

I have recently changed clinic (thank God!) and they have had me test for NK Cells/TH1-2 which both resulted high (the old clinic told me I didn't need to test as I had had previous pregnancies so it would be impossible to have high NK cells..!!) and they will also test me for ERA,Emma and Alice.

Hope this helps, good luck!
