Hi I had to have a freeze all as well 2 weeks ago due to the amount of eggs collected and the risks. When they gave me the heads up this might happen I was absolutely gutted but when I became symptomatic of OHSS I was so so grateful that this had already been decided. I don’t think you have to wait very long anymore for a frozen cycle, they just need to make sure your body has recovered. Hopefully by doing this they will stop any more fluid build up and any nasties that come with that and it gives you a breather before the next step. I know it’s hard but try to stay positive - I keep trying to remind myself it’s a marathon not a sprint. Good luck!! X
This happened to me on my first round and I was initially gutted. However, the positive from it is that a FET is MUCH easier on your body and uses less medication so potentially better for you and the success rates are comparable. I presume you mean they will fertilise the eggs and freeze the embryos rather than freeze the eggs? If not it would be worth clarifying as it's much better to freeze any embryos for future use and not eggs. As Goldie24 has said you can move forward quite quickly once they know what's going on etc.
That’s good to hear about the less drugs for FET, my clinic seem very overkill on a lot of things and have started talking to be about being on drugs for 6 weeks and down regulation etc which I’ve said absolutely not to because the drug they want to use for that is the same drug that led to my first cycle being cancelled because my body did the opposite of what it should have done. So they’re talking about short protocol FET or natural cycle FET as a compromise but I can’t find much info on either of them at all!
I actually wish I could get to freeze some eggs so an FET was an option! It seems as Libsie says the drugs are much less severe and because there is no EC the body is generally a better balanced place to receive the embryos - I’ve seen lots of success with FETs and I think it’s a positive thing and great your clinic are looking after you well. Good luck x
