Day 21 test results

Hi everyone. My day 21 blood test results came back today with progesterone levels of 16.5. My doctor noted this is slightly low, but she is off on holiday until next week so I can’t discuss this with her. Can anyone tell me what progesterone should be to confirm ovulation? Thanks!

It depends on the unit of measurement which in the UK is usually nmol/l, it should be over 30 to confirm ovulation. Do you have normal 28 day cycles? As this can affect the best time of when to have the test.xx

Thanks for your reply! If it was the same unit measurement then 16.5 does seem really low! My cycles are normally 26/27 days. I use ovulation tests and I didn’t have a positive until day 16 which is a couple of days late for me as well xx

The day 21 test is based on a 28 day cycle being that you ovulate around day 14 so your peak progesterone level is day 21. However if you ovulated later or earlier that could affect you test (as levels could be on the way up or down) but the GP may want to repeat to be on the safe side.xx

Ask for day 25 it will be more accurate, I had to check 2 months in row to make sure that I had accurate results. Mine came back as 45 if I remember well 🥴
