1st Failed ICSI-what next?

I turned 40 in July and actually had egg collection on my birthday! Everything had been sounding positive. We had the embryo transfer at blastocyst stage (ICSI) and then came the negative pregnancy test result last week.

I feel lost & empty and have no idea what to do next. Does anyone else feel the same?

I’m worried because of my age and would like to try again ASAP but don’t know whether I have to wait a certain number of cycles or anything. My consultant is on leave so I have a wait to ask but the waiting game is killing me. Any ideas

Hi lovely cant really help but just know I'm with you. My first icsi cycle also failed ( neg test yesterday) but knew it had as my period came bang on on day 8 past transfer. We had a 5aa hatching put in. It sucks doesn't it. Keep thinking I did something wrong. Honestly feel like I'm sinking and trying to be positive has gone out of the window. I also am desperate to start again as soon as possible as with my husband's terrible sperm and my super low amh icsi is our only shot really.

I'm also worried its my egg quality. I started on q10 but not in time for last egg collection. So hopefully in time they will improve 🤞

Wishing you all the luck and hugs..hope it's our turn soon ! Xxx

I’m so sorry to hear that too but it’s also reassuring - thank you.

I have exactly the same feelings. I’ve not done something right of my body has rejected it etc etc. I was so positive throughout and now on a downer. Hopefully it’ll pass.

I guess it’s about writing a list of queries for the consultant.

Best of luck to you. Fingers are crossed. Xx

I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear your cycle failed. Don't give up hope yet!! You got to embryo transfer which is great! I'm 41 and had 2 failed cycles, never even got to embryo transfer :-( I know exactly how you feel. I feel lost and have lost all positivity and in all honesty feel like a failure as it is down to my egg quality that our rounds are failing. We are now considering donor eggs and I'm not sure yet how I feel about it.

My consultant always said you can theoretically start back straight away but make sure that you are emotionally ready. Look after yourself!! If you feel ready go for it. If you need another month then take that month and spoil yourself! I always felt better when I was having a plan going forward...

Good luck with your next journey!! Having my fingers crossed for you xx

What a lovely message and so reassuring and positive. Thank you. Xx

You’re not a failure at all - and I’m sure there will be other options x

I’d like to start ASAP - as bad as it sounds because I’m an assistant head and don’t want to have too much time off school. It’s so hard to do this whilst at work.

Best of luck to you xx

Totally understand that you would like to do another round whilst off for summer. It totally makes sense! It's always hard fitting it all in with work and not getting too stressed.

Wishing you all the luck 🤞 xx

Thank you. This is my first day of finding this site - it is great as this can be a lonely process especially with the COVID restrictions.

My consultant always says the break after a cycle is for your mind. I’m a teacher and know exactly what you mean . Ivf at school is less than ideal! Ring the clinic and book in ! No time like the present if your good to go in your heart 😘 all the best 😘

How many embryos do you have left ? We went through the same procedure and it failed a week later we found out our 3 other embryos didn't develop. You have to be positive and just get up and try again .

We have no embryos left. Had 5 eggs. 3 didn’t mature well enough and 1 was too slow by blastocyst stage.

Will try to be positive. X

Exactly what happened to us but we were lucky to have one that matured. I guess it all boils down to luck . Your time will come you have to be positive .
