Low AMH supplements

Good morning to you all. I hope you and your families are all safe and well :)

I´m starting my second round of IVF with my terribly low AMH. Has anybody got any ideas for supplements to take (other then just the folic acid). Also if any diet is ideal please let me know. I have been doing a lot of googling but would be great to hear from actual people :)

Thanks for being such a supportive community, I hope we all get what we wish for xx

DHEA is something that’s recommended quite a lot but it may or may not make much difference only marginally it depends how low your AMH is aswell regarding treatment etc with own eggs.

Hi Rosa. Adding more protein and zinc to your diet might help. Regarding treatment to improve egg quality, some women try dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) . Women with reduced ovarian reserve have been given 75 mgs of this drug a day, in divided doses of 25 mgs 3 times a day for around 2 months, been found to respond better to stimulation during IVF. A 41 yr old lady I spoke to a while ago, who had had treatment with DHEA after several failed attempts at IVF/ICSI, had had 8 eggs retrieved after apparently only ever managing 2-3 per cycle. She used it for 2 months. Something perhaps to speak with your specialist about. Good luck! Diane

You can also share your experience there once you have done your cycles, so it will help others!

Hiya, different scenario but I also had very low AMH (0.39) which I found out after various nhs and private testing following 3 miscarriages. I followed a 6 month protocol with Naava Carmen (fertility support company) to improve my thyroid, hormone, blood and vitamin profile and ultimately- my egg quality. I had monthly consultations with her and tested my bloods every month too - based on this she then prescribed a tailored herbal formula that I took daily. Combined with a healthy diet, regular exercise, bi-weekly fertility acupuncture and supplements that included high strength folate, vitamin d, magnesium, ubiquinol, omega and probiotics. I conceived naturally and my son is now 4 weeks. Would highly recommend - she works with many women and couples going through ivf too and has lots of success stories. Wishing you all the best xx

I'm waiting to start ivf in a couple of months and have been researching supplements. I'm currently waiting for DHEA arriving from the US - read up on it and/or speak to your consultant to make an informed decision for yourself. After weeks of reading, I've decided to take it.

The recommend dose is 25mg x3 per day. I'm going to start at 25mg and then up it.

You can read more about it in a lot of sources but this fertility clinic in New York pioneered it:

centerforhumanreprod.com/do...

Inositol - ONLY if you have PCOS

I'm taking:

Vitabotics Pregnacare (although I'm now going to look for a pre conception supplement without inositol)

Also:

Folic Acid 800mcg

Vit D3 4000mcg

Vit E 400mcg

CoQ10 300mg x2 morn & eve

Selenium 200mcg

N acetyl cysteine 600mg x2 morn & eve

L carnitine 1000mg

Acetyl L carnitine 1000mg

Omega 3 - from food such as salmon, mackerel and walnuts

These are the supplements that are showing to have some scientific grounding on improving egg quality.

It's a lot of pills to take and pricey but given the success rate I was given, I believe this is the best thing for me to prepare.

Regarding diet, I'm cutting down on junk food but I'm allowing myself treats. I'm eating healthy and being more aware of portion size but not being overly restrictive. I also eat pre/pro biotic yogurt to aid nutrient digestion, kefir yogurt is very good.

I've upped my exercise to lose a few pounds and be stronger for the IVF round starting.

I hope this is helpful.
