Just wondering what other people’s experiences were after MVA for miscarriage. I had the procedure on Tuesday afternoon and after a bit of a wobble with fainting and my blood pressure plummeting, was discharged home with advice. I was expecting the bleeding to lessen but if anything it seems to be getting a bit heavier with each day. Also having a lot of cramps and general abdominal discomfort. Has anyone else had this? Is this normal?
The hospital just advised me to be on the lookout for nasty smells and to get in touch if still bleeding after two weeks so reluctant to bother them if what I am experiencing is perfectly normal!

Hi pinksnow. So sorry to hear that you have had to go through all this, and I do hope you've got plenty of support just now. The bleeding might continue for a while, but if you feel it is getting heavier with clots, then perhaps get checked up. Your normal period might take up to 3 cycles before getting back to what is normal for you. have a rest when you can, and take some pain killers e.g. paracetamol if you need to, unless you have been prescribed anything else. Thinking of you. Diane
Hi Pinksnow I am so sorry to read about your recent MMC. I didn't have an MVA so I can't comment on that - my local hospital only offered ERPC for the surgical route (which I had about 5 weeks ago now). I had horrendous bloating and rectal pain/constipation that lasted about 3 days following surgery. The EPU said unless it included heavy bleeding or unpleasant smells, that what I was experiencing was normal (they put it down to endo adhesions near my bowel). I had some spotting but still waiting for a normal period to return. Sending you a big hug x
